I was a little uncomfortable watching Ariza play last night with that contraption he has on his knee. It looked like he had a prosthetic leg on.

Shaq still has some gas in the tank. No way Miami doesn't make it. That would be too easy. Besides, that team still has alot of accomplished vets.

Richard Jefferson will return in March.

    New Jersey/Miami in. Orlando out.

Good choice, at least for now. After looking at this, I think Miami might make it to 7th and the Nets make 8th seed. Miami has more home games than the Nets do, and Orlando is really struggling.

The Heat and Magic play each other at Orlando for the last game of the season for both teams. A playoff spot could come down to that too.

Right now, it looks like Miami is a lock for the playoffs. The Pacers are the new bubble team.

There are 2 playoff spots available for 4 teams:

Indiana, New York, Orlando, and New Jersey are all within 1.5 games of each other.

Philly is hot (7 straight wins), but they are still 4 games behind the #8 playoff spot.

Does anyone think MIA can overtake WAS for the division title? That would give them 3rd seed? TOR would be # 4; Pistons #1 (hopefully), and CLE #2. CHI and WAS; #5 and #6

Assuming i remember this correctly the winner of 1+8 plays the winner of 4+5, and the winner of 2+7 plays the winner of 3+6

    So

DET vs whoever; CLE vs whoever
    MIA vs CHI or WAS
    TOR vs CHI or WAS

Even if MIA doesn't over take WAS it's likely to be a 1st round match-up if MIA remains at 6.

    The 2nd round would be

DET vs CHI/WAS (they would both most likely beat TOR)

    and

CLE vs MIA (they will also likely beat whoever they play in the 1st)

So is it better for DET to get the #1 seed have to play CHI/WAS (both tough match-ups), and have MIA/CLE beat up on eachother or

for DET to slip to #2 and have to play MIA in the 2nd round while avoiding WAS/CHI

I think it's actually important for them to be the #1 seed this year . . .

I know this is kinda OT of the post, but i figured it's about playoff seeding, and didn't think it deserved a new post so i put it in here.

I think it helps the Pistons to avoid Miami in the first two rounds. If the Pistons stay at #1, that means Miami needs to finish at #2, #3, #6 or #7. There are too many games left right now to tell how things are going to end up.

Are the Dirty Knickers in the 8th slot or do my eyes deceive me?

    Heat won't get #2 it's too late
    Heat shouldn't get #7
Heat could get #4, or 5
    Heat probably will get #6

They are, and I hope the Pistons don't face them. It would be easier to face a struggling Orlando team.

Heat will win their division. I don`t know where that will seed them, but count on them being the division champs, over the Wiz!!!!!!!

Could very likely happen. I think they will fall just a little bit short though. Yesterdays win helped a lot though.

A Cleveland vs. Miami 2nd round matchup (#2 vs. #3) isn't out of the question. It wouldn't hurt the Pistons to have those teams beat up on each other for 6 or 7 games.

That would help a lot. It helped Miami against the Pistons last year.

No doubt. Miami looks to be headed for the EC #2 spot, with or without Dwayne.
