With Flip officially out, let's have this one thread for discussion of who everyone wants to succeed him.

It looks like Curry is the man. None of us really know what he does behind the scenes...but Dumars has faith in him. I like him.

Don't have a good feel for the names being bandied about i.e. Curry, Laimbeer (I'd be OK w/ him) and AJ (not too hot on him). Is there any known names besides AJ being thrown up for consideration? I voted for Van Gundy as he is a defensive minded coach and is a decent coach.

Its like the Wings goal tender situation, the one they have is never good enough so change must be for the better, right?

Jeff Van Gundy was the only other prominent name from outside the Pistons' organization that I could think of.

JVG is abrasive. He's uncreative, but he emphasizes D, which would be a welcome change from the Flipper.
AJ looked like he could be good, but I don't think he's the type this team needs. He's fiery, but he's also controlling, and he runs mostly iso plays. We don't have the players for that right now.
Curry's a rook in coaching; I'm not sure he's ready.
Laimbeer's my choice, if only because he's the only guy outside of AJ/JVG who's had success at it. I love his zone offense too, but he's still the Shock's coach.
Wonder why Porter seemingly didn't get consideration by the Pistons?

JVG is the most annoying announcer outside of Bill Walton. I don't need a coach who thought Tay's defensive play was a flagrant and the tackle on Chauncey wasn't. He's blind.

Yeah, but Walton and JVG are pretty funny. Annoying but funny at times.

Maybe we should consider getting Bill Walton as a coach then.

    Or just rent a clown.

We have wasted enough time. Let's get Lambs into this job and get things back on the right track. Since I wanted him to succeed LBJ, he has done nothing but enhance his abilities.

And if Joe does not have faith in Bill, I don't know who could be better in that respect.

And it's not like he would be starting from scratch. He would inherit a pretty darned good team with which to work.

We need more people voting in this poll. Maybe Joe is taking some cues from the forum?

I voted for Bill Laimbeer because I am so angry and frustrated at the officials after this whole season I just want someone who will scream at them as much as possible. It will make me feel better.
I also think Laimbeer would be an excellent coach and is a true winner, the kind that is born, not taught.

I think, despite his recent past, that Isiah Thomas would be an interesting choice for this organization. And I'll trust Joe to make the right call on whether it would be a healthy choice.
