G-man, here's my guess Eastern Conference Atlantic Jersey Philly Knicks Boston Toronto Central Detroit Indy Chicago Cleveland Milwaukee Southeast Heat Washington Orlando Charlotte Atlanta Western Conference Southwest San Antonio Houston Dallas Memphis The wasteland formerly known as Nor leans, now Houston part deux Northwest Denver Seattle Minny Utah Portland Pacific Phoenix Sactown Los Angeles Lakers - A certain #1 pick finds himself under Phill Golden State Los Angeles Clips - Is there a lower place for them to finish?
Da Poll Sam, you must really hate the clips! "Are we ranking them by division or numbers 1 thru 30?" Wave Good question. From a Poll development standpoint it could be done both ways. I'd suggest a numbering system of 1-30 for the overall rankings. I think once the initial ranking is up, the changes weekly will be less than monumental over all. Numerical strength (hits) should get it done as long as each poster is reduced to a single vote weekly. I'm thinking the same numbers will also decide the Division leadership (and ranking) issue, a pecking order that falls into place using the same data? In other words you could assemble both a 1-30 NBA Power Ranking, and a separate grouping of Division Rankings using one Poll by simply fishing the data numerically and presenting it in two different ways. Possible?
Yeah, possible. So you want us to list teams 1~30 then because you cannot get a #1 out of a 6 division submission... Am I on the right track?
Check.. Yeh. The question is how to quantify different end results based on a single flow of input. The numerical melt down (1-30) defines both the overall Power Ranking and the Division Power Rankings via use of the same common data. We just show the results in multiple ways. As an example you could take the weekly division info and paste it into the Western Conference Talk as the lead to prompt specific confab in whats destined to be one of the quieter quarters of the site. Otherwise, it seems like we'd be all over the map trying to back into the end result using a mixed bag of different data, (different polls).
Right Then matrix the info into different reads. The different reads will generate more "localized" posting, debating. I think there will some surprises based on the final filtering. Can this technology build two columns? Like one with all the teams on one side and the other side having numbers 1-30, then, can the member "drag" the number over and drop it on the team or in a box next to it? When the member is satisfied with his Ranking build, he submits it?
My guess Here's my stab at this: Eastern Conference Atlantic Jersey Philly Knicks Boston Toronto Central Detroit Indy Cleveland Chicago Milwaukee Southeast Heat Washington Orlando Charlotte Atlanta Western Conference Southwest San Antonio Dallas Houston Memphis New Orleans Northwest Denver Utah Seattle Minny Portland Pacific Sactown Phoenix Los Angeles Lakers Golden State Los Angeles Clips I'm picking Utah to suprise some teams this year. A healthy Krilenko followed by a good draft and great supporting players. Don't underestimate the coaching ability of Mr. Sloan.

power rankings Here is my best shot, with a few surprises. Eastern Conference Atlantic Jersey Knicks(Brown squeezes a one-time 7/8 seed shot out of this group) Philly Boston P.S. 122 Toronto Central Indy Detroit (Dtown struggles slightly under new coach to find playoff form) Chicago Cleveland Milwaukee Southeast Miami(they dominate division but because of chemistry may end up 3rd in conf.) Washington Orlando Charlotte Atlanta Western Conference Southwest 1San Antonio (repeat champions.........of the west) Houston Memphis Dallas (the begining of the end is near) New Orleans Northwest Denver Seattle Minneapolis Utah Portland Pacific Phoenix Los Angeles Lakers(Dr. Phil cures what ails the sLackers) Sactown Golden State Los Angeles Clips
EASTERN CONFERENCE Atlantic Jersey (Jason Kidd is my LEAST favorite player. Big question about Jefferson and Carter coexisting, i.e., will Carter EVER share the ball?) Philly (Great young talent, and thank god O'Brien is gone. Look for a Dalembert resurgence, or rather, emergence) Boston (Nothing made me happier than seeing Fatoine Part Duex in a Irish Jersey, but, alas, those days have come and gone) Knicks (Ouch Larry, ouch!) Toronto (What is the NBA doing in Canada anyways? They can't even keep the NHL going?) Central Indy (Huge year comin' from Artesticles) Detroit (They are going to need a big time mid-season trade. Either Sheed is gone or Darko is gone...bets anyone?) Chicago (Baby Bulls are all grows up) Cleveland (Lebron's dying to jump to a bigger market) Milwaukee (Better, but just not there yet--Bogut suprises with how good he really is) Southeast Heat (lil' comp. in the div. and Daddy knocks heads till they play as a team) Orlando (Dwight Howard's getting drafted high in my League) Washington/Charlotte (Arenas has some trouble carrying the load without Hughes, and Charlotte continues to improve in the wake of excellent Draft Day decisions) Atlanta (GALACTIC fantasy numbers from Joe Johnson and Al Harrington, but lots of losses to boot) Western Conference Southwest San Antonio (Could I be any more sick of Le Petite Point Guard?) Dallas (I love you Dirk, seriously, it's a man crush) Houston (T-Mac just isn't a winner and Yao is just soft, get used to it) Memphis (Better than NOLA) New Orleans ('Nuff said) Northwest Seattle (Shuttlesworth leads the way) Utah (A healthy AK-47 is scary and the fat Turk gets even better) Denver (I hate 'Melo and K-Mart but I love Boykins and Nene, trades might change it all)Minny (Garnett can carry them all by himself) Portland (Boring except for seeing the Cops haul someone from the team off to jail) Pacific Phoenix (Watch out, Kurt Thomas was a great addition) Sactown (So happy to be rid of Webber. Hope Brad Miller's league is still in one piece) Los Angeles Lakers (I would be happy if Kobe never got on the air) Golden State (Does anyone else find it amazing that B-Diddy got healthy the second he left New Orleans?) Los Angeles Clips (How does Elton Brand survive there? He is sooo good) **if you like my take, shoot me a private message and the Microwave asking for more content from "JDMiser"
Trade? Why are we going to need a BIG TIME mid-seasoon trade? We have the same team that made it to game 7 of the NBA Finals + Davis, Evans, Maxiell, Acker, and Johnson. The biggest addition is FLIP SAUNDERS who comes without the drama and distraction of LB, and will get more production out of Arroyo, Delfino, and Darko.
Trade G-Rap, I am not ready to jump on the Delfino/Darko gravvy train. Delfino should incredible softness last year with that injury and Darko is yet to show the instinctive game or the heart. God, I would love to be proven wrong, but the way I see it, I think we are going to need some more help off the bench. The team was utterly drained last year. I don't think they can do what they did last year without getting more help. Maxiel and Johnson will hopefully give some quality depth upfront, but that, again, remains to be seen. We are relying on a lot of unprovens, therefore, i think we will end up needing a trade.
Here's my take.
