I think I'll keep track of the types of performances the Pistons produce.
As it is a PF.com badge of courage to be critical and even negative when our stars underperform. Still I'll try to accentuate the positive.
Looking at the last 10 or so.
    -
65-89 --------Road-loss to Knicks - quality loss the Knicks threaten no one so
the starters stank it up, and the bench got minutes.
103-100 -----Home-win over the Raptors- quality, defensive intensity is good
when you stiffle teams to under 90 points
93-100 ------H-loss to Kings - quality loss even for at home, letting Artest go
go off may have averted a riot
81-97 -------R-loss to the Bulls - no answer, as Bulls have abused us thrice
100-102 -----R-loss to Magic - quality, Magic are division leader
101-93 ------H-win over Magic - sound win set things straight
110-104 -----R-win over Pacer - good win over a division rival
90-89 -------H-win over the Lakers - not quality, needed a 3 from Tay
    just to get the win
90-67 -------H-win over the Mavs - BS victory as the Mavs returned to
us the same gutless performance we gave them 30 days ago

    Thee,

If you can find a positive (bench playing, not rioting, good intensity, etc.), does is make it a quality loss?

I like the idea of making a qualitative judgment about the games with the idea of striving toward a long-term goal of winning in the post season. But in order to cut through the emotion of each game, you probably need some criterea.

The Miami game had only a 4.1 Difficulty Rating. And Rils was 3.9 of that.
I rate that victory only 5 on a 10 scale. We scored 100 pt. 10 man rot. Amir sighting.
But we gave up 95 pt. 6 too many. No Shaq.
Now the Bobcat game tonite has an 8.9 "Diff" Rating [DR]. We must survive the Nazz.

I would say the Trailblazers game had an 8.1 DR. Mostly because they have a win over us. Sweet revenge. But they were missing Roy, that means something. Bench got hot.

Im just kind of wondering what your criteria is for quality vs non quality wins and losses.I was at the Lakers game and thought it was a great win...yeah it went down to the wire but thats what made it a quality win. Did you say this win was not quality because we had a big lead at the half? Kobe got hot like he always does and that was that. he made it a game...which as a fan at the game...it was awsome. Also how is the Mavs win a BS win? I look at every win as a win. yeah during the season there are going to be wins that maybe we shouldnt have gotten but who cares its a win...better playoff positioning. The Mavs game I didnt see but it looked like a great win against a west coast playoff team. im just trying to understand where you are coming from. good post though.

Letting the Lakers sneak up on us is always bad. The Lakers are a smart BBall org. and will blow by all the teams when allowed. We just barely won.
Mavs didn't even show up, how could that be a quality win?
Now take the Hawks and Bobcats, weak teams you might think. Teams to take lightly, you might assume, or work the bench on. Naw, we've seen those kinds of teams hussle us right out of the gym several times in the last couple of years.
I give them a DR in the mid 8s. Can't relax and can't let them get confidence.
We blew out Indy tonite. We own them for now. But that's the kind of punishment we
must dole out in order to keep them disshoveled. Quality wins all 3.

I would honor the bench if they went down swinging against plus .500 teams. You can learn from good clean spankage.

A loss is only a loss if you don't learn from it.

We got did at home by the Magic. I had it rated 9.0 but forgot Mo Evans was recently
traded or given to the Magic from the Lakers. Anyway it was a quality loss.

It would've been better quality loss if Dyess would've gotten less playing time and AJ would've gotten more. Also, more Hermann time over Hayes time would make it even higher quality loss.

Wasn't Hermann like 1 of 8 from the field last night?

Why is everybody so fired up about him?

Not necessarily fired up, but he's produced given the minutes before. Give him a shot, it couldn't hurt. That's all that's being asked. Would he be such a hindrance to the team comparatively to Hayes?

Not saying he would, he looks a little stiff out there to be a 3 though. Seems to be more of a 3/4 tweener.

Gotta give Hayes a shot because you never know when he'll be on a tear or not, the thing I'd like to see is to get him the hell out of there pronto when he is cold because besides his J and a little rebounding he's worthless.

Yesterday he was really crappy but Flip still kept him in. It is difficult to determine what Hermann is capable of if he's not getting the minutes. We could always revert back to Hayes if we see that Hermann is worthless.

Come on now. 2-6 for 5 points with 3 rebounds in 8 minutes.

We can't get fired up about a guy trying in GT? That is what forums are built on.

The Bucks game should've rated out at the minimum 7.5 for a reg. season NBA game. Even the worst team will run and bang on you for the full 48 minutes. And extract their pound of fizz-ic-cal-i-tee..............physicality
Since it was on the road 7.7. Anything below 8.2 we should win easily.
So we get blown out. Just bad shooting and minimal effort.
    Bull Sheite loss.
Next we get them at home and give up 100 Points to them but tally 127. It's almost
worth it just to see this team score 115 plus.
    Cheap win...
