officially, he's listed at 6'9- the same height as Ben and Mc Dyess are listed. There is some reasonable doubt about Ben's size but till now, Prince was always considered as 6'9. But this recent pic made me wonder since he doesn't seem to knee down or anything and he's clearly smaller than Dyess, who's also listed at 6'9:

Looks like Prince might be a step further away from the camera so that would make him appear to be shorter.

They all overstate it. Everybody is shorter.

It's funny that this would come up. I read an article the other day, and it was like "Tayshaun Prince, 6'9"..." and I was like: Is he really 6'9"?

But I think the crop circles are fake, so maybe we shouldn't trust photographic evidence.

Somethings wrong with that Picture. Dyess is not that tall. 6'9" for Dyess is a stretch.

Hahahaha man, what a life. Our team is so good that we're reduced to investigating pictures to compare player heights between rounds!

For the record, my opinion is that Tay is walking back upcourt resulting in him being slightly farther away from the camera than Dice and also appears to be in mid stride, knees bent, resulting in a lower height where Dice appears to be more flat footed, standing upright.

I don't think he's quite as tall as Dice, but he's for sure not that much short than him, as that picture would suggest.

all this dispute about heights. barkley was only 6´4 but listed at 6´6. shawn bradley was 8´5 but only listed at 7´6, muggsy bogues could get kids admission prices but was listed at 5´3....

why don´t they just put the old measuring stick next to them when they take their profile photos prior to the season¿

this size stuff really disturbs me- I mean, it can't be that difficult to measure correctly and WITHOUT shoes?
Everybody knows Ben ain't 6'9 but I always thought Dyess would be truly 6'9. If he wasn't his former jumping ability was even more awesome...
@ahb your picture makes me questioning if RIP's relly 6'7, haha
Sometime it seems like no size is for real...

If all these guys are that much shorter than their listed heights, then maybe I could play in the NBA... Has anyone measure the rims? Maybe they are only playing on 9 foot rims.

I'm sure there is a team out there who could use a 6'4" shooting guard that dribbles and moves like a 7 footer.

In one of the last of the season games (I think it was New York), the announcer was talking about how McDyess looks like he has got his legs back; said something about him having a 42 or 46 (can't quite remember) vertical leap (whatever that means). Whatever it was, they sound like he use to be a very high (and impressive) jumper.

Have you seen Rip Hamilton in person? That man can't be no more than 6'5, and 165 soak and wet. I don't care what he say. Remember when Sheed joined the team in 2004. That was one thing he use to tease Rip about; him not being 6'7.

Non-Piston, but got to bring it up since we're talking about height of players. Nate Robinson is listed at 5'9. I'm 5'9 and he is a couple of inches shorter than me. So, I guess they all like to add inches to their bio.

I think vertical leap is usually measured with a device like this.

Back to the ol' height is not relevant... it's standing reach that matters.... you don't play with your hair roots.

Can't judge by pictures, you don't know if the camera is tilted, you don't know the depth, unless you see the floor and know the perspective, it's all a guess. BTW, if you want to know a real players height, if they played internationally, FIBA has real bare foot measurements. NBA measures in shoes, which adds about an inch and a half. And teams report what the players want to be listed as. Laitner is a true 7 footer, but hates being that tall, so he is always listed as 6'11.

    Selected Olympic heights
    NBA heights Fiba heights
    AI 6'_____5'11"
    Starbury 6'4"___6'1 1/2"
    Carmelo 6'8"___6'8"
    Lebron 6'8"___6'8"
    Wade 6'4"___6'3"
    Amare 6'10"__6'6"
    S. Marion 6'7"__6'7"
    E. Okafor 6'10"__6'9"
    T. Duncan 7'0__7'2"

Wow, thanks 16, those are really interesting. Amare only 6'6? I didin't realize Labron was as tall as he is. Or was the same height as Melo for that matter.

strange- you're saying the NBA measures the player with shoes on and FIBA with bare feet- so how can Duncan otr Fino be taller? Or Lebron and Melo have the same size? I mean, this seems like WWF wrestling when 6'7 guys pretend they're 7'3...
RIP being only about 6'5? That makes him quite small, even for a shooting guard. Or how can Laettner make the NBA tell he's smaller just because he doesn' t want people to know he's 7ft???
I don't think Mc Dyess is even close to have his old leap- I mean, I remember having read that he was able to touch the top of the backboard. If he had that leap today, he'd be the old 22pt/12rebs guy and either Ben or Sheed would have to ride the bench for more minutes.
