On Utah sports talk radio this morning the hosts were trying to figure out how they would have enough money to pay Deron Williams, Okur, Kirilenko AND pay Millsap 8-9 million. Not to mention Boozer. They referred to new indications that Detroit was interested in Millsap for that amount. I think Utah is bracing itself for the possibility to lose the young man. I think we as fans have to hope that Boozer doesn't opt out, that is if we think Millsap is a better option. If so, does Joe D need to make it clear to Boozer that we're not going for him, so that he stays on the books in Utah? One last thought: do you think Boozer has any interest of playing in Detroit for any other reason than $$$$$$?
He's got the LB catch 22 syndrome. In his striving for maximum $, he lowers his value.
That's an excellent point. I think that's one of the critiria Joe should use in molding this new look team. Players have to WANT to be a Detroit Piston and not just because we are throwing more money at them than other teams are. I realize it is a rarity but I for one am willing to wait for the right fit. Watching our team struggle to compete for a few years (at least to me) would be worth it in the long run if it means constructing a "dynasty".
Wouldn't that statement also apply to Millsap? Personally I don't mind if money is a player's primary motivation, so long he shows up and plays hard whenever he can.
dont worry, to overpay, just to get somebody has never suited to JD. oh, and now 22000 unread posts. Real Life sucks.
That is the million dollar question? Who wants to be a Piston? Who wants to be a Bull, who wants to be a Laker? Most players play where the money is and where they believe they can play everyday and want to play with team mates or an organization who are proven winners. Some just take the money and play because someone wants them...
Oh, the love triange! The older chick wants the guy for his money, but he lusts over the shy young one. What is this, Melrose Place? What a dumb title for a sports article.

Great article. Thanks Carlos.
Yes. Excellent article. I liked this quote:
boozer does not like pistons but potential 12-15 mil from there.
The more I think about it after reading the article that Carlos posted I'd rather not have either one of them and focus all of our attention on getting Bosh. As the article stated, Joe should focus his attention on putting something together to land him and then sign Gortat to a MLE type contract. We'd be better off IMO.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks signing Boozer is a bad idea.
Sweet article...it definitely tells the truth about him getting injured.
Hmmmm, I mentioned in a post elsewhere under Pistons draft and Free Agent discussion about getting Millsap.
Unless JD wants to end his administrative position...he would be wise to pass on both, which is what he is going to do.
Now that is funny.....
Great points made in that article. Is Joe willing to sacrifice another year for the prospect of getting 1 or maybe 2 all stars next year? If so, he may very well send Rip to the Wizards and Tay to the Clippers, for expiring contracts.
