Rockets could lose Yao for season, if not longer - NBA - Yahoo! Sports I can't even express how bad i feel if this ends up being true. He's one of the few players i really like in the League. Seems like agood guy who genuinely cares about his teammates and wants to win. The Rubio potential deal/whatever makes more sense now.
He's too big. He bones can't support that much weight crashing down on them... especially after multiple breaks. It is a real shame. He is a very nice guy. The whole Chinese gov involvement has always made me feel bad for him.
Yao joins McGrady as pistons target in the race of cleaning salary cap... Scola all star this year, his last contract year playing starter would be nice to see if they trade mcgrady for a profitable player.
China will be the cause of Yao having a short career if this injury proves to be a career ending injury. China made Yao go out there and play when it was clear he was not 100% healthy. They even made him compete in the World Games and partcipate in summer with the China team. The guy hasn't had a summer off in since he has been in the NBA. I feel sorry Yao.
This is such sad news. I can understand the national pride and wanting to play for the Chinese team. But, it wasn't worth the risk. There was no way China was going to the podium in the Olympics. Yao's success in NBA is just as big a national pride for China. Too bad. With a healthy Yao, Lakers probably wouldn't have gotten past the Rockets this summer.
... also, let's not forget that they bred him for this by forcing his bball playing parents to mate. It's just sort of a sick situation. China has been like an enormous overbearing little league dad throughout his whole life.
At this point I would be very surprised if Yao plays again. Anything is possible but I don't see how you come back from that if you're that big.
