    Rogers, Williams not impressive
It's just three weeks into the 14-week off-season workout program, but sources say receivers Charles Rogers and Mike Williams have not impressed the new coaching staff.

Rogers has been attending the workouts but the coaches have been underwhelmed by his attitude and focus and the rumors of his hard-partying lifestyle won't go away. As for Williams, he didn't show up for any of the workouts last week. His agent said he left because of a "family matter.''

Williams, who is overweight and out of shape, attended the first four workouts and then took 10 days off before returning on Monday. That's not exactly the level of commitment the coaching staff is looking for.

If the receivers don't turn up the intensity and production through training camp, they can forget about winning starting positions -- they'll be fighting for roster spots.

I don't know about Rogers but I have heard from a pretty good source that Mike Williams is freaking huge bigger than when he came to camp last year and from what I was told he was weighing in at 250 lbs back then. Looks like the guy likes eating more than football.

maybe he wants to convert to dominating tight end? heh. rogers i understand, he's pi$$ed at the lions for trying to get that bonus back, but then again he can only blame himself. you think with an entirely new staff he would be eager to start over. oh well.

They should make Williams a T.E.... he's not quick enough as a WR... who's lame azz idea was it to draft him anyways... oh yeah, the guy that's still employed.

I've seen some draft reports were we take A.Hawk or V.Young. I do not want to make that choice! If V.Young falls to us could you pull the trigger?

As far as need goes, I'd be very happy with any one of:
    Brick - OT
    Mario Williams - DE
    Michael Huff - CB/S
    A.J. Hawk - LB

But there is a good possibility that none of those guys will be available by 9.

Guys I'd love to have but because of more pressing needs we shouldn't draft (or have no chance at with the 9th pick):
    Reggie Bush - RB
    Vernon Davis - TE
    Haloti Ngata - DT

Guys I'd be ok with if we got if we traded down:
    Jimmy Williams - CB
    Chad Greenway - LB
    Brodrick Bunkley - DT
    Tye Hill - CB
    Tamba Hali - DE
    Winston Justice - OT

Guys I'd be disappointed if we were to get:
    Matt Leinart - QB
    Vince Young - QB
    Jay Cutler - QB
    any other QB
    any WR

Not that any or all of those 3 QB's couldn't potentially go on to be Pro Bowlers in the NFL, but I don't think any of them are a lock. Because we have so many more pressing needs, I would be very disappointed if we were to draft a QB.

Its easier to win with an average QB and a great D than the other way around. It also doesn't matter how good your QB, RB, TE or WR's are, if your O line blows chunks. We need to go D or go O line.

young won't fall to 9th. either way i'd love to get a blitzing LB or a strong O-lineman.

Brick would be ideal, but no way he falls to ninth. Hawk would be sweet too, but almost as unlikely as Brick falling to us.

The majority of the mock drafts out there have us taking Huff. I'd like to pick up Justice, but not that high. Maybe we could trade up for another pick within the middle of the first round?

this year's draft class is probably one of the best we've ever seen in terms of names only.

Justice. Hawk. Brick. Huff. Bush. Cutler.

Marvel could run with those names to form a new team of superheroes like the x-men or something.

I agree that Hawk and Brick will almost certainly be gone by 9. I would LOVE to grab Huff with the 9th pick. Huff at FS with his great speed and athletic ability (a la Troy Polamalu) abd Kennedy at SS with his sledge hammer hits.

I'd love it if we could find a way to move up and grab Justice as well, but I just can't see that happening. Every mock draft I've seen of late has Justice moving into the top 10.

But then again, Cleveland did give us a 2nd rounder to move up 1 spot to grab Winslow so anything is possible.

Brick is going to N.O. They traded their starting LT, and got a pick.
I've been calling for a DB for years but I don't know about Huff at 10.

The only thing that will surprise me is if Millen DOESN'T pick a WR @ #9.

If they could trade the pick for one later 1st rounder, and get 2 early 2nd's out of it, it might be a good deal.

    Nothing against wheeling and dealing.
If we have to draft a WR and convert him to CB I'm fine with it. The CB talent is crap nowadays.
