If you put AI on a team now, give him the ball and say go do your thing, is he physically unable to because he has aged?
...what do you expect from a 'I"???(been waiting to use that and it only took ONE game....thank heavens for NBA league pass, cuz to hear the Grizz' announcers spin this will be GOLD)
Iverson should be with his daddy Larry Brown.....That is basically the only coach he has really flourished under and probably the only one that can keep him quiet. The Bobcats are averaging 79 pts a game thru four and are 2-2. With Raymond Felton still averaging 5 turnovers a game and DJ Austin and Gerald Henderson still developing, AI will be there to provide instant offense starting next to Felton.
D.J. Augustin seems to be improving with every game. He had a horrible opening game but its been dramatically uphill for him since then.
I used to read these kinds of comments from someone like AI and be quite amused. Now it's just sad. I mean, 95% of AI's comments were 'me, me, me'. Then he throws in the gem at the end, "if we were winning I'd be happy playing 10 minutes". Really? Does he really believe that? Sorry Aurora, it must be tough being an AI fan these days. I don't want to hate on the guy, but these kinds of comments make it very hard to like him. Memphis would be wise to waive him. Mike Conley, the apparent franchise PG is the guy who saw the reduction in minutes with AI's involvement. How disillusioned and frustrated will he be getting? No wonder nobody wants to play for Memphis. Rudy Gay just declined a 5 year, 50 million dollar deal with them. In this current economic climate it appears he is willing to take a pay DECREASE just to get away from this team. They need to be willing to show they are committed to making a culture change if they want to keep their young players. Bringing in the AI and Zach Randolph types is not doing helping that. They are veterans with different priorities.
Yep.A mama pampers diaper baby. Iverson has had a great career. I'd like to think he can redeem himself and leave the way Ben Wallace is leaving.
I'm fine with a player wanting to be on the court all the time. Heck, I'd be mad if he didn't want to be. What I'm not fine with is a player that constantly WHINES about it and goes through the media to do it. Have a private conversation with the coach, don't air your dirty laundry in the press. THAT is not being a team player. So to recap: Fine with AI wanting to play, not fine with the way AI deals with it.
He did lead the team in assists in only 27 minutes while shooting 75% from the floor, so as least his play has been unselfish.
I know there are a lot of AI supporters here, but he is retarded. I just had the pleasure of reading this Frustration grows for Grizzlies, Iverson - NBA - Yahoo! Sports WTH was AI thinking when he signed with the Grizz, that they were contenders? %%%% the Grizz have never been anything and will never be anything. Memphis isn't even in a rebuilding process, the only thing that they are doing is trying to keep the payroll cheap and put butts in the seats and thats probably the only thing they will ever do.
AI, AI, Ohhhhhhh! BubbaChuck better start keeping it real and stop pretending that he's buried behind Adam Morrison on the Laker bench.
The quote is out of context, it was a direct reply to two questions. Sounds to me like he's saying Memphis aren't rebuilding, not that he now realises Memphis are rebuilding. Whole interview with the questions is at: Iverson doesn't want to be a reserve or distraction - The Memphis Edge
Sorry but the questions weren't in the Yahoo article. It still doesn't change the fact though that he believed Memphis was going to win games. Besides managment isn't lying they are not rebuilding, rebuilding would indicate that they are trying to get better. The AI signing is a fairly obvious sign that winning games is not a priority.
