Combo guards sometimes get played at shooting guard. News at 11.

Lee, sometimes I get the feeling that if this was a Heat forum, you'd be arguing that LBJ should come off the bench and only play 20 minutes per game.

Bynum is a street baller. He would beat everyone. Second place would be bup bup. He would back people down. Jennings would make each game close. Siva would get eaten up.

    You're trolling Lee.

Billups would have trouble with Jennings if Jennings shot was falling.

Name 2 championship teams in the last 10 years where the point guard was the best player.

Having a good point guard is important, but it isn't the most important thing.

I believe it's only Parker and Billups who've won a Finals MVP award in the last 10 years. Wether they were the best player on their team or not is up for discussion.

You need guys who can pass the ball around. If you have a dud for a PG then it helps to have a LBJ type who can pick up the slack. Do we have any kind of SF on the team who can remotely play that role as a ball distributor?

I have a good feeling about Jenkins. He kind of remins me of CB before he came here.

I agree that Horace Jenkins is as good as CB!

(In all seriousness, I think that there is definitely something to your assesment that Brandon Jennings is kinda in a similar situation as Chauncey was prior to becoming a Piston. ...Now if we could only get L.B. to come teach him how to "play the right way"!)

We have a young, and highly talented PG, playing for a coach who used to be one of the best PGs in the league and who happens to have a reputation for mentoring young players. The chances of something good coming out of that is quite plausible.

Or we can enter year 6 of hoping Stuckey finally gets his head straight.

He is no Rodney Stuckey, that's for sure.

Ok, just one month from today, and the preseason starts. Soon, my TV will no longer be broke, lacking Piston basketball.

The rotation listed, at the ESPN site, is: Jennings, Billups, Smith, Monroe, Drummond. Does it mean anything, not really. Like Milwaukee does not have Knight listed as their starting point guard.

So, anyway, what if there is some truth to this, and at least to start the season, we have Billups starting at shooting guard along side Jennings. Probably covered this before, but here it is.

Jennings and Billups start in the backcourt, so hey, we will absolutely not lack in ball handling skills from our guards. Not too bad on the outside shooting either.

The preordained front line of Smith, Monroe, and Drummond should be pretty awesome.

2nd unit: Stuckey, Pope, Datome, Mitchell, Harrellson.

extras: JJ, Singler, Bynum, Siva, CV

A smaller 2nd unit: Using Stuckey as the small forward:

    Siva, Pope, Stuckey, Datome, Mitchell

A possible rotation. Just need to do a couple trades and sign Mejia.

Start Jennings, Pope, Smith, Monroe, Drummond

2nd unit: Siva, Mejia, Daye, Amir Johnson, Big Baby

Then you got Mejia at point instead for the 2nd unit, giving a 2nd unit of:

Mejia, Daye, Mitchell, Amir Johnson, Big Baby

Quite a bit more size in the 2nd option.

Pistons could go with a 5-point guard lineup:

    Siva, Bynum, Mejia, Jennings, Billups
