Ok, so lets look at what we got. I am not even going to use any of the rooks for now. Starters: Gordon, Rip, Tay, CV, Wilcox. Second unit: Stuckey, (Gordon and Rip sharing backup minutes at shooting guard), Jason Maxiell at small forward, (CV, Ben, and Wilcox sharing backup power forward duties) (Ben and Kwame sharing backup center duties.) Jason is big for a small forward, but many, many slower people than JMAX have played the position. (Like Corliss when we won it all in '04 - with our current head coach on the coaching staff at the time.) Sure, you can fill in the voids with the rookies. But other than having no true point guard in the starting unit, not that bad a team offensively. PS, adding Ben makes us a 30 win team now. Still not enough defense. Better than 20 wins though.
Ben is giving us 10 wins? Then he is well worth that minimum salary. The coaching change should give us a more than 30 win team by itself. No?
Losing Sheed is going to dramatically lower our win count. As will the giving away of Amir and Afflalo. Losing Dyess lowered our potential for wins - but since we always used him wrong it will actually mean more wins by his departure. If we had a decent coach to replace Curry, yes, it should increase the win count. But sorry, the guy we are getting has no credentials to suggest he is a decent coach. I hope he is decent - and like you said, a decent coach could indeed mean more wins vs. a no nothing - never should have been hired coach like Curry. You can get a lot of wins out of proper player management. Don't over play them. Don't play them out of position to promote injuries. But hey, again, we don't know how this new coach will respond to the task at hand. Could be pretty miserable around here in a few months. At least he does have some assistant coaching experience under some good coaches. Way less a shot in the dark vs. hiring Curry.
No credentials suggesting he is a decent coach. Even when joking around, you should still use the whole sentence quoted. Get your humor in order!!!!!
Stuck/Bynum Rip/Gordon Tay/Daye/Summers CV/Wilcox/Max Kwame/Wallace Jerebko and Washington won't see alot of time this year.
Adding Ben +10 wins Losing Amir -10 wins Losing AA -10 wins Damn, ...Pistons are gonna lose 72 games this season.
We are sort of loaded at the PF and C again. Villanueva/ Wilcox/ Maxiell/ Kwame/ Wallace/ Jerebko/ Washington We have so many backups for Tay, that odds are we'll find something that works. We are obviously stacked at the SG. I don't really know what to think at this point. It could work out OK, but it is tough to predict. The realistic rotational possibilties are vast at this point when compared to prior years. This could be sort of like going to a movie that you have low expecations for. Could be more enjoyable because you are surprised by the good parts instead of nit picking at the flaws.
loaded with turdy also-rans. we don't even have 1 proven quality starting big man. i kinda like it though. hopefully they will play with some edge and attitude. i'd like to see a return to the blue collar ways. i dont think adding ben wallace is magically going to do that in any way, but.. im hoping that this "crap on paper" front line develops some bite.
PF's: Villanueva/Wilcox/Maxiell/Jerebko C's: Kwame/Wallace We may see Wilcox starting at C along with Villanueva at PF for a balance. -Villanueva/Maxiell/Jerebko -Wilcox/Brown/Wallace Washington is a SG/SF
I still think there is going to be a big trade but with what we have. Starters: Gordan, Rip, Tay, CV, Kwame. 2nd unit: Stuckey, Day, Wilcox, Maxiel/Wallace, Bynum. Not sure how they are going to use Ben Wallace. Have to see what he has left. He may take Maxiel's spot or even compete with Wilcox and Kwame.
Ben Gordon is the worst 58M dollar PG of all time by a large margin. Sessions is miles better at PG (as is Stuckey), and he's looking at getting the MLE at best.
