What do you think? Someone brought it up during school and I thought to myself "That may work!" Detroit Lions get; Troy Smith (QB) Draft Pick (most likely 2nd-4th round) Baltimore Ravens get; Roy Williams (WR)
It's a fun trade to talk about in fantasy football. I wonder why you never see NFL trades during the season.
I agree. I have no desire for Troy Smith. Let's see what Stanton can do first. Most importantly, IMO, we need to address the O-line and entire D before worrying about filling the "skill" positions. Bringing in another young QB will be pointless - not to mention damaging to their career, confidence and body - with the current unit.
You trade a player for draft picks now. Problem is WHO IS GOING TO RUN THIS TEAM (into the ground more) by the time of the draft? Roy should be worth a 1st & 3rd.
We don't have the players to block for Troy Smith. We don't have the coach to devise an offense for Troy Smith. We don't have the GM to surround Troy Smith with good players. Just let Stanton play. He's already in the [STRIKE]mold[/STRIKE] fold.
Roy could be another TO or Moss, but it ain't gonna happen with the Lion's O-line and QB's that lack the smarts and athleticism to get out of Detroit's ever-collapsing pocket.
I think the players should be considering trading the organization by now, that might be a quicker way to turn things around.
Interesting article. The thought process is that these Lion players would play harder on another team. Sounds like a coaching problem to me.
Roy for a 2nd rounder, and a good LB/Safety/TE Lions need more glue and guts type guys and less flashy guys.
Why is it that when a team is doing poorly that people think the team's best players should be traded? Shouldn't they get rid of the bad players?
