Detroit's Charlie Villanueva fined $25,000 for flagrant foul vs. Kings - SB Nation Detroit At least we got him for the next game
I think Bynum realizes that with that second unit as long as he is penetrating he doesnt have to score and he will get to stay on the floor, where in years past he had to score when he was out there or he would get yanked. He knows that he is running the second unit and he gets his and gets his teammates set up and he is running the show for them .
You are correct. They changed it this year. They figured if teams were required to have a minimum of 13 contracts, then they should allow 13 to guys to suit up and play. Makes sense....
The thing that I don't like about the CV tech is that it was only called because of the response from Thomas. If he gets up and walks to the FT line, there would probably not even be a flagrant called. I've fouled friends harder than that in nerf hoop.
Maybe I am different and a little soft or maybe my memory is just going, but I've never really seen a guy show that he was going to hit you for a solid second with his forearm like Charlie did. A straight running clothesline would have been a better choice.
That was a BS flagrant 2 on Villanueva. Thomas should've received a technical for (clearly) throwing a punch as well. Also, I thought Cousins was gonna go all Stephen Jackson on CV.
Call that foul a F2 in the 80's and 3 or 4 players from each team would be booted.... that wasn't hard at all.
I forgot who he fouled so I actually thought it was Isiah Thomas, not Isaiah Thomas, who called Chaz a dirty player and was a bit surprised about this. I may be the biggest wind vane here, Chaz is starting to win me over. SLAM ONLINE | » Charlie Villanueva Trash Talks Isaiah Thomas About Hard Fouls
He tried to block his shot by never leaving his feet? You can clearly see him lurching forward with his forearm cocked for a count. He didn't make any sort of basketball act on that play.I would say that 99% off all the flagrant 2 fouls called this year have been worse calls than this.Bill Laimbeer did not commit fouls like this.Charlie V gets stupid with this stuff every so often.
Flagrant 2 looked like a good call to me. CV went hard at the head area with a forearm with no intention whatsoever of making a play on the ball. Sure, if it was the 80's, it's just a good, hard foul. That was a couple of decades ago. The rules have changed.
Without refs or teammates, Thomas would have found himself unconscious about 2 seconds after he whiffed on his punch.
No way man. Charlie hit Thomas with his forearm. He did it because he sucks at playing defense, and he's a dirty player. Don't let BoT's statistical outlier shooting trick you into thinking he isn't still a planking, money stealing, crap player. That was a cheap move. Note, that "bad guy" DeMarcus Cousins rushes in and separates them immediately, and doesn't just punch Charlie in the face.
