15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks in just 30 minutes? Those are Darko Summerleague type numbers! Let the legend begin! I am nominating myself for the Cheik Samb Hall of Fame Club President!
S.H.O.F. What's wrong with Flip how come Samb ain't gettin' no PT? Jess gettin' ready early. Dibs on VP
It's too bad Samb isn't in a better league. I hope we've at least given him tons of McDonald's coupons. 2 for 1 type deals.
Bingo. 2nd tier Spanish League #s don't exactly fire me up. I think the league he is from is actually lower than the Belgian League. Like a junior club of semi-professional ballers. I'm waiting for confirmation from some of my European friends.
Reports were that Samb has a solid coach... at this stage that's what he needs... It could be 3-4 years before he sees a regular season NBA game... plenty of time to improve the competition. Spoken like a true SHOFer.
The one really impressive thing about Samb is that he can drop the trey bomb from downtown ala Manute Bol.
I went to a CBA game way back when and Manute was playing. During warmups all he did was launch 3's. He even threw a couple up in the game. It was fabulously fun to watch. He had some crazy blocked shots too. Manute was entertainment.
Plenty of time? Good heavens...four years from now, you most likely will not have any current players playing that are currently on the piston roster. What Samb needs is a solid core of NBA tested warriors giving him one-on-one, one-on-two, twice-a-day workouts. In between those workouts are weights, aerobics and fundamentals on foot-body control, finger-hand dexterity, knowing ref preferences and building facilities, etc. The list goes on. I guess my point is that if Davidson wanted to leave a legacy toward the game he would start this type of school. He has the money to do it. The D-League is a joke and waste potential talent. The vets of course, love it.
He's just now learning how to play the game... along with his anemic body it very well could take a few years... nobody said Cheick because you're a 54th pick you better be contributing in two years so you can be with our current core. Hopefully we'll have our own D-league team and he'll receive the necessary development... for now he's nothing more than a 2nd round project. The beauty of the prospects in the Euro leagues is there isn't a sense of urgency to receive dividends.
Oh yeah, and after he rides the bench for a few years and finally shows he could play, Joe will get rid of him- I heard suggestions like that one before...
