There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy. There's only you and me and we just disagree ~ Dave Mason
New member here, I just want to thank yall for this info on our guys over seas. It has been a fun read and hopefully atleast one of these guys really can do some damage in the NBA, hopefully for the pistons.
I have a few buddies in Europe who happen to be basketball people (former marginal players, scouts, consultants, trainers). The comparison that keeps coming up with Samb is Keon Clark. The consensus is that Samb could be a longer, stronger version of Clark- a decent shooting, athletic, shotblocker, who's frame should allow his to eventually play center in the NBA, especially now that the league is getting away from the traditional, space-eating behemoth. The feeling is that his frame should allow him to eventually play at 250-260 pounds, without much trouble. Right now, he's more of a face up player, with little or no traditional post game. My guess is that his immediate future will largely be determined by his summer league play. If he shows well, then he could be here next year, where he will be developed much in the same way as we've done with Amir (D-league mixed with solid NBA coaching). If he show's some struggles, then maybe one more year in Europe. My gut says he's here next year, especially if we use our second first rounder on a developing international prospect.
From what I saw in the SL, Keon Clark (with added height) sounds about right... That guy played well for two years and dissapeared? Train keep hittin' your Euro Buddies up for info. Thanks
Word is that Clark decided to become a coke-head, but who knows? He was a really solid player for a couple of years though. He was killing the Pistons in that Toronto series a couple of years ago...
If we can get another good big man it would kind of eliminate need to resign Web. I sure hope they let him go to get playing time for possibly someone like Samb, although Pistons expected him to spend at least 2 years in Europe.
So how potent is that snake oil that Tony R. is trying to sell us? Samb did look pretty bulked up in those recent pictures. 7'8" wingspan would have to be one of the longest in the league.
He sure did. Maybe summer league indeed will tell us something about him. But I would think that Pistons will send him to Europe for at least the next year.
That's fine. I look at him as more of a long term investment. Although I still think D League is a higher challenge athletically and it would help him with English and the US style of basketball.
If he liked Vegas, he's gonna love Sioux Falls!!! As least that is what they can have the interpreter tell him.
You think Pistons are going to put him in the D-League next year? He's probably going to spend another year in Europe. Maybe in a better league.
