Tay and Otto areboth long, lean and LIGHT skinned so look at him and say, Tayshaun. If he were dark skinned nobody would say Tayshaun. It's kind of hard to explain with a keyboard, but it's in teh same vein as how we always compare good white players to other white players.....as you stated earlier, while not right, I do understand that as flawed humans some things are
    only natural.

Otto and Tay are both lanky & slim dudes with sorta similar mannerisms regarding the way they play and move around the court.
I'm not trying to be "PC", but I can honestly say that the shade of their skin has absolutely never occured to me and I don't think that it factors into any sort of comparrison.

...and yes, I do acknowledge that there are stereotypical stylistic differences between players of different backgrounds (black, white, European, etc.).
It's one of the reasons why when I was growing up, I'd shoot finger-rolls on my Nerf-hoop like George Gervin instead of trying to emulate say, ...Kelly Tripucka.

    ...One love :victory:

You finger rolled when playing Nerf hoop? That's as soft as it gets! The degree of difficulty on that shot is very high though.

My favorite nerf post move was the hard bank off the ceiling to avoid getting blocked.

Growing up in Michigan, the weather wasn't always condusive to shooting hoops in the driveway. ...and the local YMCA was limited on hours that they had "open gym".

The Nerf hoop hanging on my closet door was probably the "toy" that I played with the most during my childhood. I'd go through one about every 4 months or so due to them braking on dunks. I use to do some elaborate duct tape jobs on those things to keep 'em working right and make 'em more rigid.

I'd always be Nerfin' while watching Piston games on a tiny ass TV in my bedroom back when they were on Channel 50.

I have yet to meet anyone who has ever grown up wanting to be like Kelly Tripuka. His name even makes you want to vomit. He has to be on the All-Ugly team with Ty Hill (That dude will make you retch. He looks like Skeletor in a Hannible Lecter skin suit.), Chris Kamen, Muresan, and Popeye Jones.

I remember when I played Nerf hoop growing up. I always wanted to be like Kelly Tripucka. I would put in my fake buck teeth and fake mustache, get into my short shorts and knee-high socks. Then, just let those jumpers rain down out of the sky.

I remember a neighbor boy who used to do that same thing. Until his Dad caught him doing it.

Sadly, he was soundly beaten. Back in those days, a lot of fathers just couldn't accept the fact that their sons wanted to be Jackie Moon-esque, buck-toothed, shorty-short wearing, finger rollers. Though now we know that they were born that way, in those times, it was considered a mental illness that reflected poorly on the family.

I think it's great that you have a forum wherein you can come out, and be accepted unconditionally.

I hope that experience wasn't too traumatic for you "the neighbor boy."
