Not to distant future? Thats what was in the article. Amost on que with todays topics perhaps they are priming us for a trade involving Delfino.

I like Battier. He is a solid player and plays within himself. He is not out there trying to be a 20/10 guy but he will chip in some stats. He is also on a reasonable contract ( 5-6 mil/yr)

Why would Houston want to get rid of Battier? He's under contract for the next 5 years.

I agree. I can see why we want this deal, but why would Houston?

For all the reasons we want to get him (good character guy, does the little things, no ego, cheap long term deal), I'm sure are the same reasons that Houston would want to keep him.

Houston is not the smartest team when it comes to trades. I don't really know who is running the organization, but I say let's get Battier while they are still in the dumb mode.

Anyone who trades Mike James to Toronton for scrubs, I wouldn't doubt for a minute that they would trade Battier. They are in fact one of the trade happy teams in the NBA behind New York.

    Mohammed for Battier?

Leave us without a Center but perhaps Davis can fill in this year and Amir can grow into it next year.

    Maybe McDyess for him instead?

    McDyess - PF
    Mohammed - C

    for:

    Battier - SF/PF
    Bob Sura - PG/SG
    Chuck Hayes - SF/PF

    RealGM ID: 3432177

Sheed will have to play some 5 with Davis playing 15-20 mins. Battier can slot in at the 4.
If Sura comes back, great. if not, too bad.
Chuck Hayes could be alright filling in at the 3 or 4. Or just give Amir and J-Max more mins.

But this is all pipe dreams as Houston would never do this deal.

Agree with you AG, especially if it just Delfino for Battier. (give them Dupree too if that will make it really work)

I would love to see Battier come home. He reminds me of Corliss...he'd fit right as a Piston, but not necessarily with Flip...Flip ain't got Piston DNA.

webz...I like your trade scenario...hell, I'd throw Flip Murray in on that deal. Doesn't Sura have nagging back problems?

when can he opt out? the only way i can see him coming here is free agency or a trade involving our core.

We already tried Sura back in 03. Doubt he would be happy about comming back.

I have a feeling that something is up. Something is going to happen. Its been a while since Dumars shaked things up with a trade, maybe its about time.

yeah as i said he's just in there to match salaries. he can waived and be free to go somewhere else.

i think its too early for joe. we might not have the patience but he won't make any hasty decisions.
