Actually the Shock aren't a bad looking team at all; Powell, Latta, Nolan, Pierson, Ford, and of course Swin. When I said goons I was talking about the fact that there is a solid contingency of manly looking WNBA players (league wise, not locally), not that-that makes them bad people, but there are some chicks that look as if they would be comfrotable using a urinal.

My original point was, am I wrong for wanting to be a WNBA groupie??? I mean where's the equality when I can't use my suave good looks to get Swin pregnant and be one of her many Baby-Daddies, get custody and sue for an outrageous child support order??? Where is the JUSTICE??? I'm officialy starting the SCHOF club. For men that think Swin is "Filet-O-Nice", that deserve the opportunity to be her future baby-daddy and collect child support from a professional athlete.

Already down 1-0 to Indy. Shock held them to 32 percent shooting and outrebounded them but still lost. ???

The only problem with this plan is the women don't make nearly as much $$$$ as the men. Nice try at gender equity though. Swin, however, has some other business ventures I believe.

Saw most of the game up to the 5 minute mark. Every time the SHock would come within two points, one of the Tams would hit a shot to put thiem back up 4 or 4. (Tammy Sutton, Tamika Whitmore, and Tamika Catchings). Catchings was spectacular with her step back shots even though she only hit five of them. She had a double-double and the Shock sufferred with Swin and katie having bad nights again. if not for Plennette pierson's big 3rd qtr it would have been a bigger loss than the 10 points.

Need some home court support on Sunday and for Cash, Smith and Feenstra to step up.

I read somewhere that Smith is mired in the worst shooting slump of her career. She picked the wrong time.

They don't make that much dude. Swin probably only nets around 60k/yr off the Shock. Could be more, I don't know. If they can get some endorsement deals thats another thing. A lot of players do suppliment by playing oversees in the off-season.

Actually the max salary in 07 was $93,000. Total team cap was $728,000. Min Salary for 0-3 years was $32,400 and for 4+ years was $49,134. WNBA championship bonus is $10,000

This explains why you don't see any of them showing off their Cribs on MTV. Lisa leslie was probably the only player to make the max. I did see her drive by me on the freeway with a brand new S Class Mercedes about 2 years ago.

Most do have to play in Europe during the winter if they want to make more cash. The endorsements however are still way down compared to women's tennis.

The Shock won earlier today against the Fever 77-63. They survived again and tied the series 1-1. Big game tomorrow and its at home, so hopefully they can win the series.

Shock lost their composure in the early 4th, but they pretty much dominated this one from the outset.

    Go Shock!

Shock need to steel-toe Indy's butt in Game 3. Should be a competitive game. Whoever wins, I still think PHX is the favorite to win the title. Too much offensive firepower from Taurasi and Pondexter.

I don't remember having seen anyone say this before, but does anyone else think that Deanna Nolan's style of play and way of playing is very similar to Rip Hamilton's?? She has that way of looking like she is playing just off the surface of the floor, never touching it.

To me, she looks just like Rip; I was wondering where the face shield went.

Re: Shock Survive first round upset

AT least one team in SE Michigan was able to have a successful weekend a labor day after debacles on saturday by the Wolverines and Sunday by the Tigers.

Deanna Nolan was spectacular hitting 7-11 three balls to bring the Shock back into it in the second qtr, and once Tamika C went down, it was the Shock game to lose due to overconfidence. There was a stumble midway thru the third, but Cheryl Ford woke up near the end of the qtr and Katie Smith and Swin Cash carried on the onslaught to close out the game. The Shock should be able to outlast the Mercury's high potent no defense line-up as long as these two play all four qtrs with Tweety and not disappear like they have been doing.

Good to see Billups back at the palace today supporting his sister team after grabbing the medal last night with his FIBA team.
