Should Chauncey be starting?

I love Chauncey and I appreciate everything he's done for the organization but I think we need to start KCP soon. I can only imagine how good we would be defensively because both him and Jennings like to play the passing lanes, which will lead to the fastbreaks that we are so good at. Your thoughts?

That would make the 2nd unit even worse defensively, though. Our 2nd unit got killed yesterday. I like Billups as the backup PG, but I think we need to find another SG via trade. I like KCP, but he's going to have his ups and downs. KCP needs minutes whether it's starting or off the bench.

I don't think that Chauncey is playing all that bad. He was sloppy with the ball last night and has had a lot of shots spin out.

He has not been the difference between winning and losing.

When you say you don't want CB to start you are really saying that you want Stuckey or Singler to. KCP isn't going to go from DNP's to starting even if I'd like him to.

The issue with Billups right now are his shots aren't falling and he is not helping us where his game used to be real good...FT shooting and the big three balls.

It's only been 5 games, so we are premature on what we should do with him, but his stats certainly aren't providing dividends yet.

He was great in game one dropping 16 pts on 4 out of 5 from downtown and was 4 for 4 from the line. However since that first game he has shot 3 for 16 from beyond the arc and has not been to the free throw line in past three games...and he has had more turnovers than assists the past three games (6 to 5)

Truth be told, neither he nor Singler have provided enough offense with their woeful shooting to offset the all of the points our defense has been giving up. Give CB a couple more starts on this road trip and then I say start Stuckey and then make the transition to Pope because top ten lottery picks got to eventually start on semi bad teams unless they are just a total liability on both the offense and defensive end. The way our defense has been playing, the Pope needs more PT.

From the abundance of SG-s to lack of SG-s . Oh the irony...

Kcp would fit on best with jennings, smith, monroe, and drum. With that crew, we don't need cb to settle them down.

Even though Chauncey has looked old, him starting isn't the issue.

A three guard rotation of BJ7, Pontiff and Bup.
    Teen Wolf in certain situations.

    ...Stuckey traded for a late 1st rounder or a D & 3 SF.

It goes a lot deeper than who happens to start at shooting guard the next game. This type of thing, rotations, have made no sense for years. The only thing in common, the same GM. Sorry, until Dumars goes, none of this will get better.

The last two coaching hires came from above Joe.
lee, YOU have more to do with Pistons rotations than Joe does.

It has been alluded to above, but the team has been comprised almost entirely of 2'a and 3's or completely devoid of them.

    Why is that?

I would definitely not be starting Billups.

He could be the glue guy on the 2nd unit or a closer is certain situations. I'd probably average him about 15 mpg and not play him on back to backs. We should want him to make it through the entire season without getting injured for chemistry reasons.

Chauncey's contributions should be more cerebral and less physical at this point.

Stuckey- through 5 games, he's leading in:
    points per minute
    PER
    eFG and TS%
    WS/min

Chauncey is dead last on the team in scoring rate and has a .333 FG%. If he's not going to score or spread the floor, then he's going to be on the bench shortly.

Stuckey isn't the greatest fit with the starting lineup since he crowds the paint even more. He's been a great 6th man so far though if he can continue doing what he's doing.

That means that we either need to start Bynum/Jennings at the 1 and 2 or Jennings/ KCP. The latter is the obvious choice. Pope may not have "earned" it, but it should be his by default right now. He plays D, plays smart, and was the draft's best perimeter shooter. Also, as a rookie, he's going to be content to have the lowest usage of the starting 5, which is what he should have. Our clogged offense always needs the dude standing in the corner as a bail out instead of having Smith take the unguarded 3 that the defense gives us.

Why are we always the team that won't play our top 15 pick?

I just got back from the Suns v Pelicans matchup and the Suns # 5 pick Alex Len never got off the bench.

He hasn't played in the last 3 games or so according to the locals.

Yeah but the Suns are winning, so may be more about how good Bryan Shaw is and how bad Mo is .....
