yep lowball folks and it comes back to bite you later.... trade folks with no respect to where they might want to go, and it will come back to bite you later.... Yes the team's interest have to come first, but each deal that Joe makes is not made in a vacuum. Players and more important agents remember and talk. Did we pay more for Gordon then we might have since we were bidding against ourselves? maybe, did we really overpay him for what his production has been and can be expected to be? I don't think so.... I think Joe has some respect around the league (just not from our own fans it seems) and gets contracts that are for the most part fair with players to come here, and when he goes to resign them. If a player really doesn't want to be here he ships them out to a place that gives them a chance to get what they think they want. Sign a player to a contract that they can be happy with, so they don't moan and groan about being underpaid, not appreciated, so on and so on.
