Has the US been eliminated already? They don't seem to be playing.

USA plays this afternoon. Right now Germany is destroying the Portuguese (3-0 at halftime, Portuguese playing with 1 man down). This means that Portugal will be very aggressive against the USA. It can be a good thing as that'll leave them vulnerable to counter attacks. Also, if Germany also defeats Ghana readily and guarantees 1st place, they may hold back in the last game, perhaps even rest a few of their key players (it has happened in the past)

Germany wins with crisp passing and good defense.
Rodney Renaldo looked confused and frustrated the whole game.

Weird, Ghana has subbed both of those two players back in. They must think this is a must-win game or something.

Fantastic clutch header off the corner kick for the go-ahead game winning goal. And by a sub in his World Cup debut, no less.

Ghana really put it to the USA on the offensive end out shooting 21-8 and they controlled most of the game. Surprised they didn't score more than the one goal.

Brooks coming back with the eventual winning goal less than 5 minutes after the Ghana tied it was a back breaker for the team from Africa.

The injuries could hurt the USA in the next game.

S.J., nice pick of USA to win 2-1 over Ghana. I had USA winning 3-1. You have a big lead after the first round of matches. Insurmountable? We shall see...

I loved the first USA goal. To be honest with you guys, I had a lot of exams this days (still a few to go) so I've been missing some games. Have watched the clips though.

I saw some from Japan vs Cote D'Ivoire and of course Argentina vs Bosnia.

Regarding Argentina, that was a weak game! We started with 5 defenders against a team that only attacked with 1 forward (Dzeko). That's nonsense. There has been plenty of talk this past 3 years if the Coach (Sabella) is a good fit. So I'll say it.... COACH IS CLUELESS!!

We won that game because Bosnia sucked (Much respect to them, but to be honest, they have lost posession of the ball sometimes without having the argentinian defense or any argentinian player guarding them.)

Next argentina's game is an easy one, Iran.

But here the expectations about the team going in the sweet 16 and elite 8 is NOT good for now. (I'm using NCAA references because I don't know the enlish words to those periods of the tournament lol)

Tomorrow I won't miss Belgium for anything in the world!

Ghana's goal was classic, a long swing from left to right, cut inside, a crispy cute no look back pass then finished with a hi-tech left foot side spin shot that got goalie's ankle broken.

Belgium won! .. it was a nightmare! Friends texting me when Argelia score the penalty in the 1st half... and then they wen full defensive mode, 11 players in the defense and Belgium couldn't find a way to penetrate.
Luckily, Fellaini entered the game in the 2nd half and score a great goal, later Mertens in a counter attack, 3 attackers vs 2 defenders, and Belgium solve the equaltion perfectly.

Either way, Belgium has a lot to work on until sunday when they'll face Russia.

Wow, Spain became just the 4th defending champion in history that failed to get out of group stage. Give props to Chilean side who owned that game. What a disappointing implosion by the Spaniards. Somewhere, CarlosGallan is crying. :-(
