Poor Bill is getting worked over in this thread like the gears on one of Lee's old 3 speeds.
It's getting close Pistons sale reportedly in final stages - theoaklandpress.com David Stern on meeting Tom Gores - Detroit Bad Boys
Yes, 5buttons, buy this team or wiggles will remain PF.com laughingstock til armaggedon finsihes his pains. do it for wiggles!!
You guys aren't going to believe this, but it seems that the sale is being held up because Mrs. D wants as much $$ as possible out of this given "her investment" aka as sleeping with that old guy. Price holding up Pistons sale | detnews.com | The Detroit News
A very good article about the process. I think Gores is foolish for buying now, since he doesn't know what kind of salary cap will be in place, (hard or soft) or wether the luxury tax threshold will effect his ability to gain talented players, versus maintaining profitablility. I think he would feel much better knowing that Rodney Stuckey was under contract for the long term..
It amazes me how they are probably off now by 20 mil or so while Dumars threw away 90 mil on CV and BG 2 years ago. Or how Rip is owed 25 mil over the next 2 years and will probably have to be bought out. How much revenue has been lost this year due to fan disinterest while telling Dumars not to change a penny in the salary structure. When is the trade deadlne? Did we miss it already?
This prolonged process is going to ensure that we don't make any moves by the trade deadline (this Thursday). From the article it sounds like NBA is also pressuring Gores to pay more.
Yep the NBA is in cahoots with Mrs. D to assure that the team sells for at least $400 million. It's an owners ploy to assure that future sales of other teams are not devalued. You'd think that if Ilitch wanted to "play future ball" with the other NBA owners he would have offered more than $360. Owning the Tigers, Wings and Pistons would have put Ilitch in position in a couple of years to buy the Lions, turn them around and run for mayor... Gores should probably stick around here in Beverly Hills, and wait for Donald Sterling to let the Clippers go..
This is the obvious solution.
Or, a deal might be struck in which a high price is announced, but Gores pays considerably less until certain performance guarantees — attendance, advertising revenue and television revenue — are met. This option scares me. He might just bag the team for a few years, just to make a buck. Heck, he could just leave things the way they are so the value really falls. Then, when the time limit is up...rebuild the team for sale.
At this point the only one here who really know what's going on is Wiggles...and he won't come back and explain it.
It's possible that wiggles is a long standing member of this community who needed an altar-ego.
Is he getting married?
Maybe a member of the clergy?
Perhaps a Clairvoyant?
I'll have nun of this talk...
If only we all had the patience of Wiggles....
He was way out in front of this story.
