Here is a link I found on a good rumor site for hoops. I would welcome him... Knicks Blog HoopsHype - The NBA Basketball Web Site Enjoy
I would love to see him on the Pistons. I've totally respected the guy ever since he started that clothing line. Some things transcend basketball. I don't know much about his skills, to be honest, but I would be very proud to see him in a Piston uniform.
Flip would love to have him here, I'm sure. Takes a lot of low percentage, jump shots. I think Marbury would be good fit in the right system. If the guy can get in the paint, he might fit in here, since we don't have many players that can do that.
This is only the second year that Chauncey's shot a higher percentage from the field than Marbury has. He's an excellent pick-and-roll guard, or was. Plays pretty good defense when he cares to - better than any guard or wing on our roster except Rip and Afflalo. Can use his bulk like Billups, Baron Davis, and Sam Cassell can, and he's more athletic and has much better body control than Billups or Cassell. Plus, he's managed to get on Isiah Thomas's bad side, which is a good sign for his career as a point guard. I'd take him if he were available and healthy. Of course, I'd start him, but what can you do.
But if you weight the percentages to take 3s into account, CB is clearly a better shooter overall than Marbury. That's the "ShEff" percentage number at the bottom right of their season-by-season stats on ESPN: ESPN - Chauncey Billups Career Statistics - Detroit Pistons ESPN - Stephon Marbury Career Statistics - New York Knicks
Didn't claim otherwise. But ggazoo69's suggestion that Marbury's a low-percentage chucker like Jamal Crawford, Jason Williams, or Juan Dixon is not accurate. There is something to be said for being able to finish at the rim.
Whoa there... Chauncey being that much better of a three point shooter also means that Marbury is even that much better of an option inside the arc than Billups. There are two ways to look at that stat.
I also hinted that I think Marbury could get in the paint, too. I stand corrected, though, Marbury IS a chucker, just not a low percentage one. His problem has always been, it seems to me, playing within a system.
As far as I know the Knicks would have had to cut him prior to March 1 for him to be eligible for the playoff roster. The only thing that article says is that Flip and Marbury had a conversation. No one knows what they talked about, could have been talking about the weather.
I think this article is refering to Marbury perhaps playing next season for the Pistons if he is bought out in the off season. First off Flip isn't even guaranteed to be here next year. Second, "Mr. I don't come off the bench" Marbury is not coming here where he will be lucky to see 10 mins a game. He is more concerned about his stats than winning.:nerd2:
Word has it that Flip was talking to Marbury about getting at least 5 pair of the sneakers and three Starbury jerseys and shorts for his kids. If Flips survives, yes he may be able to reel in Marbury to get in to play in Flips' system again next season. Neither Dixon nor Hunter will probably be on the roster next season, so a guard rotation of Billups, Stuckey, Afflolo and Marbury might add to whomever we get in the trade for Rip...
I'm pretty sure this year is his last year...unless the team somehow plays beyond him in the post season.
Bottom line is that Marbury makes every team he goes to better....right? What do statistics have to do with that? He is just a guy that can take a team to the next level...right? He is such a good team player with Piston DNA..right. Oh yeah and those shooting statistics are so very relevant.
That's only about $35.00 worth of stuff. That shouldn't be a big deal. If Marbury DOES somehow become a Piston, He should be made a captain. He's captain material!
Also will need to keep the intern's away from him. Maybe banning his hotel on wheels... cough.. cough I mean Escalade from the Palace will help.
