If YOU were the Pistons head coach, who would YOU select as the starters for the season? You must select exactly 5 guys (Darth, that's how many players start in a basketball game).

Not the starters in game one but the ones who I'd like to see get the most starts during the season if no trades are made. I'd love to have Daye start instead of Tay but I think this is the better 5 and I think it's a nice mix of youth and veterans.

    Stuckey Rip Tay JJ Monroe

    Stuckey / Gordon / Jonas / Monroe / Wallace

If Tmac or Daye start to get it going I wouldn't be against them starting instead of Jonas.

(of course Rip and Tay are traded in my imaginary world)

This is a little bit wishful thinking, I would like to see CV and Monroe EARN starting spots.

The question is who will Q trust to finish each game??? Will any if those rooks, or second year guys be trusted enough to close out or will T-MAc, Tay and Stuckey be the main closers??

Barring all trades and injuries I got:
    Stuckey/Hamilton/Prince/CV/Wallace.

But I think, Bynum/Gordon/T-Mac/Monroe/Jonas, will really push the heck out of the starters and prove themself to be a superior unit.

A bench of Bynum, Gordon, McGrady, Monroe, Daye, and CV and for cripe sake Summers and White is just a ridiculous amount of offensive talent. And I keep forgetting Maxiell. I mean that's an absolutely sick amount of offensive talent, and likely there aren't enough shots to go around.

With Stuckey, Rip and Tay in the starting lineup, and given that Tay is not a guy who needs or takes tons of shots, and given that Ben Wallace hardly ever shoots and JJ is the consummate role player and he doesn't need a lot of shots either, it makes little sense to start 3 guys who range from not big time scorers to total non-scoring threats when we have that astonishing level of offensive talent on the bench. Lordy, even if Rip and Tay are traded right away and pick any two of the bench guys to replace them, we're still left with a ton of offensive talent on the bench and then two guys in the starting lineup who don't need many shots.

The imbalance of that strongly suggests to me that at least one of Ben Wallace and JJ will be coming off the bench this season. The most likely candidate is JJ, with CV getting the first chance (given his reputed physical and conditioning metamorphasis this summer) to own the PF position.

If you then come in with a bench of Bynum, JJ, Gordon, McGrady and Monroe, Maxiell and Daye - the team on the floor at all times seems to have more balance.

(As I look at this, it's pretty damn clear that we have too many players who really need to play. No way in heck that Daye should be the 11th or 12th man, but that's the way it's shaking out right now. (And I still think Summers is a player in this league - and White, forgetabout him right now, he'll never see the court with this depth). Trades have got to be made to thin out the SG and SF positions. But please, let's not pretend that this roster doesn't have a lot of talent. It's imbalanced, for sure, but there's no doubt this roster is full of guys who deserve PT in this league.)

I selected the starters in this order:

Rip, Tay, Ben, Monroe*, Joggin' Rodney

I am hoping Monroe can play the 4. I am not that optimistic after the Summer League. I can't shake the image of him running the court, catching a pass and coming up 3 feet short of the rim on his layup against the Kings.

There was no reason to put him in that list. He would have gotten the most votes anyhow.

Since he was not on the list I voted:

    Stuckey/Gordon/Prince/Wallace/Monroe

Basketbills, do you want Ben Wallace to play all by himself?

Is there anything besides his contract and maybe people being sick of Rip that makes people think Gordon should start?

His body of work during his career hasn't really pointed to this role.

Ben Gordon has to be a Starter.

Stuckey - Gordon - Prince -Monroe - Ben

bench : T-mac could play all backcourt positions.
Bynum play would depend on T-Mac

Adds Jerbeko and Villa up in the frontcourt.

And the most important thing is that RIP not to wear our Red, blue and white uniform.

    I change my mind:
    Here's the plan:
    1. Illitch and Magic buy the Pistons.
    2. The new mgmt 'Team' of Joe and Magic become too much for the rest of the legue to deal with, the intimidation factor is off the charts.
    3. We send Rip and Wilcox to Denver for Carmelo, as payback for getting screwed in the Billups Iverson deal and for the pilfering of Arron Afflalo
    4. We send Stuckey and Prince to New Orleans for Chris Paul.

Starters: Chris (1st team All-NBA, NBA Ast Leader) Paul/ Ben (NBA leader in 3pt FG%) Gordon/ Carmelo (MVP) Anthony/ Greg (Rookie of the Year) Monroe / Charlie (Most Improved Player) Villanueva.

2nd unit: Bynum/ Tracy (Comeback Player of the Year, NBA 6th man of the year) McGrady/ Daye/ Maxiel/ Jonas

Oh, BTW, we got 1st rd picks in each trade, that we trade to Orlando for Dwight Howard.

Seriously, why hasn't Joe done this a long time ago? What's the matter with that guy?
