In the latest round at rumorville there are a few big names that are floating as being offered in trade.. take your pick: Ty Thomas Andre Miller Elton Brand Tracy McGrady
Thomas or McGrady. Thomas as a player to keep and McGrady as a contract. Ty Thomas is dumb as a rock though basketball-wise and what would they have to give up to get him. I am wary of trading for an expiring contract because you could end up giving up something for nothing if the cap goes down significantly.
We could send Rip to Portland for Miller who could then start at the one next to Stuckey and we would bring Bynum and Gordon off the bench. or how about Tay & Max for Brand Not sure about the money though for either transaction.
Without worrying about trade implications, if I could drop any one of those players onto our roster, it would be be Elton Brand. I think his interior game at both ends of the court addresses our biggest area of vulnerability.
He was a reliable 20-10 PF circa 2006. Now, he's a 30 year old PF with a huge contract who played only 37 games in the past 2 years. He only played in 16 of the 19 games this season and is averaging 12.2 pts and 6.6 boards. So, bringing him would be a very high risk transaction since everything would hinge on the hopes that he'd miraculously rejuvante himself back to what he was 3 years ago. The chances of that happening with an older guy that's been banging around with NBA bigs for 10 years is very low.
It really sucks that his Brain Innovator and Magnetic Ion Necklaces could do nothing to prevent these ankle sprains, ruptured disks, or smashed in faces.
Tmac is all about the contract (not the player).... His deal would net us more than a max contract to buy this summer.... I like the flexibilty... should be able to bring in a nice BIG to our mix.
Max and Stuckey would get you Miller salary wise. You'd have a real point guard with something to prove. Rip and Kwame would get you Brand. Portland and Philly both want to move these guys. If you did both... Miller / Gordon / Bynum three guard rotation with Summers for fun Prince / various rookies CV / Brand / Wallace three big man rotation with Wilcox along for the ride
That'd be the deal-breaker. Joe likes them 2nd round picks. I wouldn't expect him to part with one for one of those scrubs.
