Thought we could get a general thread going on the Olympics.

Team USA is playing team Cananda right now in the preliminaries on ESPN and I did not even realize it about until flipping around on the tv.

Max, you should flip around on the floor, preferably away from any furniture so you don't hurt yourself. As my grandmother would say, "if you flip on the TV, sooner or later someone is going to lose an eye". :)

I don't want to make too much of a single exhibition game, but a quick check of the boxscore brings Pistons fans some great news. Tay came off the bench to outscore the starting PG. He shot 50% from the field, had as many blocks as fouls, and his assist/turnover ratio was so huge it's undefined. His trade value just went up!

    Don't sleep on those Aussies!

In this weeks Diamond Ball comp we beat China with Yao and Ji, while holding Yao to 14 points. Then the very next night we beat Angola behind Bogut's 32 and 11.

In the final last night we only narrowly lost to Argentina 95-90 despite Scola scoring 32, and Ginobili and Nocioni 20+. Bogut also only played limited minutes because of ankle soreness. It was a little disappointing after being up 19 in the 3rd, but at least it keeps our guys hungry. Big head syndrome may have been a problem had we won this game.

We've got an exhibition game just before the Olympics against you guys. I'm not saying we are going to win. Just beware...

Yea, if those two don't get healthy soon the USA might be in trouble.

Spain is the only team who can beat USA team in Pekin, but seeing the game against russia, this year gold medal return to USA.
Spanish are better in team play, and we have new young players as Riky Rubio,Rudy Fernandez or Marc Gasol added to the starting team,Gasol,Garbajosa,Carlos Jimenez,Navarro and Calderón.The better basketball olympic games since 1992.
It´s nice to see the usa basketball team with zone deffense, like european teams,to attack well a zone you must know how to defend it. This year americans go to olympics with less pride or insolence over the rest of adversaries, this seriousness and his fantantic quality and physicist made usa team the real first favorite, with Spain a step underneath.

Good post. The USA team is also much more experienced as well. Its been 4 years since the big 3 of Lebran, Wade and Mello made their Olympic debut and now 4 years later they are much better and ready for some payback.

Not a great game against Aussies. Barely pulled it off. Tay with a grand 3 minutes of action and no production.

IMO They're not going to win. It's the same as last year, all flash, no substance. They still have the same offense and look extremely confused when faced with actual defense.

Any team that can defend, execute the pick and roll successfully, and keep them half-court can beat them.

I'm put money on either Spain or possibly Argentina . . .
