Argentina hung with us once they started playing zone.

The Spanish coach was in the audience watching. If he doesn't play zone most of the game, i will question his sanity. Although when they put LBJ in the middle of the zone, they started doing a little better.

Spain is screwed regardless IMO. Calderon is injured, and Pau plays like a sissy.

I'm guessing that if Herrmann would have been suited up today, Argentina would have prevailed. It would have been an unstoppable barrage of 3-pointers and nifty finger rolls.

I think that was on the menu at the local restaurant last night.

You haven't even mentioned his suffocating D. Don't you remember him covering Dirk that one game?

What happened, I think I missed it? Bynum had one of the nicest dunks I've ever seen in a game when he was in HS on the show Punks.

Oh well, off to the rotations thread to begin working on minute allotments and games played for him.

You perhaps missed that Delfino did fantastic in the previous game?

Wow, I didn't know Bynum was that athletic! Crazy highlights. The move at 1:50, the dunk at 2:05, and the block at 2:25 show some versatility.

Our point guard problem seems to be officially over with this guy as our #3.

    Yes, I missed it.

I think the U.S. defensive game plan was built around stopping Ginobli, not Delfino. I think when Ginobli went out with an injury, the U.S. team lost a lot of focus, enabling Delfino to burn them.

Will be interesting to see how Carlos does in Russia.

Yeah, yeah, but did you see that three-pointer at 2:45?

OK, OK, maybe I'm :deadhorse with that joke. I did notice a lot of athleticism there, though. Sometimes the defenders didn't look like they knew what they were doing, but that's to be expected in a lower-tier league talent-wise. I do look forward to what he can do with us after getting some good experience over there.

Too bad he wasn't here the last few years, he would have felt right at home. That's to be expected with a lower tier coach though.

15 minutes to the gold medal game. Anyone out there watching? I really want them to win, but I thought they looked pretty bad in the last game. They won ugly I thought. Also I wonder why they looked so bad against that zone. Aren't there plenty of zone defenses in the NBA now? Why no ball movement? Oh well, I hope Tay gets a few more minutes so he feels like he deserves his medal anyway.

Actually, the years of dislike of LeTravel and LeCareenOntheFloor dampen my enthusiasm for this team. Never thought I'd get to the point where I could bear Kobe and his game as compared to LeBron and Wade. It's hard to like people who get attention they don't deserve from jump street. I can see with my own eyes that both are excellent players, but I just like Chris Bosh more. And everyone else on the team.

Well...go USA! They managed Spain last time, so they just have to do the same thing I guess.

He was fantastic. It's really a head scratcher how much better he looks for ARG.
Looks like that's really what it was. And Spain's coach was either messing around the previous game, or has become better real quick. His substitutions patterns for the most part have been fantastic, and he's actually using his depth (although Calderon being out forces some of that)

Halftime of the Gold Medal game. 69-61 I think for USA.

Man, present habits die hard. Kobe, Chris Paul, LeBron and Wade all yakking at the refs. Spain seems to be good at passing and shooting. We seem to be shooting much much better than against Argentina, but wow what a lot of fouls we are getting. Everyone seems to have two fouls. Got to see more of Tay because both Kobe and LeBron were on the bench with 2 fouls almost immediately.

I think we should be farther ahead even though it's a high scoring game. What about if Spain activates a zone on us? We don't seem to play our best when we play against these zones.

Okay, starting up again. GO USA!!!! Defense defense defense please!!!

The gambling defense they were playing doesn't work against good teams it seems. They'll still win though so i guess it doesn't matter.
