A couple quick profiles. Terrico White | NBADraft.net Terrico White | DRAFT 2010 Prospects | NBA.com Athletic, but where are they going to find playing time for him other than in the D-league?
dont make any sense at all? Why not draft a big with some "upside" in this slot or make a move to move up and get whiteside, couln't have been that hard. Makes no sense at all. wtf , wtf, wtf another F'n combo guard, and this one probably won't even make the team.
I literally just dropped to my knees when I looked at NBA Draftcast and saw that we drafted another SG. All I can say is WOW!
I only saw his team play twice on TV against the Tide and he didn't stand out at all. I don't remember him doing much. I remember Alabama lost both games but I'd have to look at a boxscore to see what he did... I guess Joe didn't see enough in any of the available bigs to take a chance. NBAdraft.net analysis... Terrico White is a dynamic athlete who has the ability to play both guard spots. Unfortunately, his athleticism doesn't seem to translate as well as it should on the floor, especially on the defensive end.
Joe has got to be one of the worst drafters ever. Why does Joe still have a job? We need fresh blood.
It sounds like this guy has a huge potential upside, being one of the most athletic players in the draft. Two years ago, he was shining at the PG position, but ended up playing a lot of #2 last year because junior Chris Warren returned after injuring his knee a year ago. In January, one team had White at #10 on their board and another #13. A lot of teams had this guy ranked as a mid-to-late 1st rounder. In May, White shot the lights out on both days at the Chicago pre-draft camp and showed the type of handle that had some scouts calling him a point guard earlier in the year. New Jersey Nets and Memphis Grizzlies both like him in late in the first round. White's knock is that he never consistently plays with a high energy level. And for a guy with NBA eyes on him virtually every night, he can be disappointing. When he is on his game he can be an explosive scorer. He is especially effective in the midrange, strong in attacking the rim and a reasonably good, if inconsistent, shooter. I'm sure Joe D will say he was shocked that White was available at this slot.
Hey, we need good players in every position, I don't mind this. I mean, if we don't re-sign Bynum and Atkins retires AND/OR we trade Rip, we will need him. Realistically, he will probably be our best ball-handler. Could be a good spark plug to ignite the 2nd unit. Give him a chance. Good size, massive wingspan and hands, very athletic, good shooter. Has the tools to be a good defender. He was projected to go in the first round, I think Joe took the best player available. He'll be the best White to be drafted by the Pistons that's for sure.
I agree...but no one wants to deal with noTrader Joe. So we are still stuck with undersized Max and slow footed Charlie V White is an upgrade over Chucky, so give him the benefit of the doubt as we still don't know if Rip or Bynum are staying or departing
Stop Hating, please.. wait a little.. Terrico can play PG. And maybe Dumars ALREADY Knows that Bynum will leave Detroit.. I think that, for the position, it was a good pick. I've no complains with this years draft.. TIME WILL TELL.
Good points about Bynum and the Chuckster. I have assumed we were bringing at least Bynum back. The measurables are sick. 6'9" wingspan with a 40 vertical. The question is why don't those physical gifts translate to the stat sheet?
This guy reminds me of Sleepy Sharpe for some reason. In January, one team (The Pistons) had White at #10 on their board and another (The T-Wolves) #13. A lot of teams had this guy ranked as a mid-to-late 1st rounder. In May, White shot the lights out on both days at the Chicago pre-draft camp. Too bad it was with a gun. The maintenance crew said they wouldn't pick him at all.
To be fair, a lot of us (But not Bill Laimbeer) were probably complaining about last years 2nd round picks also so who knows..............
I did say this on draft night last year: http://www.pistonsforum.com/detroit...2009-nba-live-draft-thread-25.html#post208205
Alex Acker was a swingman with questionable motor and desire. I liked Alex. I might like this guy. I tried really hard not to get caught up in the lottery ball hype, and then the Cousins hype. I actually like the Monroe pick, because while it is not sexy, at least Joe didn't draft some guy no one else would have taken before 15, which unfortunately, is what so many of us expected and were terrified of.
When I posted that, I was worried someone like you, Webz, would read more posts from that thread.... :nerd2:
