I think they should pick up the team option on Harrelson. He was good as a 3rd string big, he is professional and he plays hard. He also has a serviceable 3 point shot. No reason to get rid of him.

Look at all those point guards. We need to drop Willie B Bynum. I am utterly sick of seeing him play.

Reading through that roster top to bottom produces a couple of stiff winces.

Lee's couch could probably get 60 wins. It's seen a lot of film.

It's really the couch's fault. My settee has mad b-ball knowledge, or at least it claims to.

I am sure there are more moves to come, but right now we look something like this:

PG-Brandon Jennings, Spencer Dinwiddie, Will Bynum, Peyton Siva
SG-Jodi Meeks, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Gigi Datome
SF-Kyle Singler, Cartier Martin, Jonas Jerebko,
PF-Greg Monroe, Josh Smith, Tony Mitchell
    C-Andre Drummond, Josh Harrelson

This is 15 guys. If there are more FA signings, then some of these guys (Siva, Mitchell, Harrelson) get released

$6.5 million per is a %%%% ton of cash for Jodie Meeks. He better average more than 15 ppg for that money.

It would also be nice if he started defending people.

Here is a review from a Laker basketball web site from last year:

His improvement on fast breaks and transition offense was the most visible transformation. Last season, fans would yell at their television screens for Meeks to get rid of the ball and not waste another layup opportunity. This season Jodie attacked the rim with confidence and showed an ability to finish at the rim unlike anything Lakers’ fans had seen from him before. His defense was pesky as expected and helped him earn the status as the Lakers best defensive player (not that it was a major distinction).

Perhaps one of the best moments of the season came when Jodie dropped a career high 42 points on the Oklahoma City Thunder, leading the Lakers to the upset victory. The most impressive part of those 42 points? Meeks did it on only 18 field goal attempts.

Don't understand people complaining about Meeks' contract. We had $11 mil tied up DNP-CD. If the guy earns minutes, its a bargain and a welcome change.

It's probably not a good idea to compare Meeks' contract to those of BOT and Sticky... those were abnormalities... not the standard.

Siva is gone. Yea, he finished strongly, but he is undersized and unproven in the position with most players, and a new coach. Even if we were to get Thomas and trade Bynum, I think he would be gone.

Hope we keep Mitchell and Harrelson though. Mitchell could be a terror off the bench if he works it out and is given simple instructions in simple plays and Harrelson has proven he can be useful on both ends in small minutes (when healthy), which is exactly what you want from your 4th big.

I totally agree with you webz.
I've seen a few posts from folks saying how Meeks is a bargain compared to Stuckey. ...well heck yeah. ...sure he is.

To me, this is kinda like saying that compared to Hitler, Charlie Manson isn't such a bad guy.

Folks, let's raise the bar a little bit ok?
Let's not use "it's better than what David Kahn would have done" as our standard of excellence.
Meeks a a decent player and thanks to the Pistons, he's probably making twice as much as what he's worth.

This part was already commented on "Pistons news " thread. A hint : Pistons is not very desirable destination right now.

    I don't buy that.
For the most part, the Pistons are a blank canvas right now.
...new coach, ...cap space, ...young roster

It's certainly not a horrible place for a FA to land.
It ain't glamorous like LA, NY, Miami, Chicago or Boston but it's a franchise with a winning tradition and a fan base that with show up if you give them a reason to.

There are lots of undesirable destinations. It's only for a couple years, they get lots of money, and most are young enough that they don't have families. Plus, they spend half their time on the road.

Not sure those are all positives to guys with options.

Those should be positives for fans, our expectations and opportunities are different than those of a player
