    A. You forgot Dinwiddie
II. The roster is now at 17, so 2 of those guys will be gone.

    Is Harrellson gone for sure?

Until they waive him, the roster is at 18, right?

MLive has a nice article that has an update on the current roster situation.

I'd like to see the Pistons nab a backup PG with their remaining cap space.

It would have been nice to see them try and move Bynum for something instead.

The 75K that Siva would have earned next year must be too steep for "All In" Gores.

You would rather have Siva than Augustin?

No, but I'd rather have him instead of Bynum (and Jennings).

He makes nothing. Waiving him after his deadline would have been less than a million in dead cap $$.

That cap space can be used right now with trades.

I'll put as succinctly as I can (at least for my preference). Is Meeks the worst thing ever? No. Are there better players out there? Yes. Could we have gotten him for much less and used those additional funds to make a hard run at better players? Absolutely.

He's getting an awful lot of praise and credit for only having a single solid season in his career. No one was beating this guy's door down and we just came to the table with the financial equivalent of overkill. If I felt like we were truly chasing better talent in order to escalate this teams overall level, fine. But, I (personally) am not a fan of settling for less (talent-wise) and claiming you had no choice without really being in the discussion for any of the better talent out there. To put it another way, (and this is just ONE example...there are other players I could use) I would have rather seen them take any money and tradable assets (save Monroe and Drummond) and given SAC whatever they could have for IT2. Yes, I'm skeptical of his overall game, but he's certainly better than Meeks.

Us? Not even in the conversation for Hayward. ...called Deng AFTER he's pretty much made his decision... Granger? ...could have been had...we don't have a starter. Tons of other options and better players. As usual...this team took the easy route...and paid top dollar for it....again.

As I said before, I'm a fan first, but I need to see results and if this works out, I'll be the first to admit I was wrong.

What SVG and Bowser are doing is much different than what Dumars did. All five of these contracts are low-money, short-term deals. Dumars screwed the franchise by WAY over-paying and making 4 and 5-year deals to guys like Smith, Jennings, Stuckey, Gordon, Villanueva, etc. If any of these five new guys don't work out, there is no big loss.

Until some sucker comes a calling for Smith and/or Jennings, the Pistons will not be legitimate contenders. Perhaps one or two of these five new guys will be worth keeping around after this season. If not, they either expire or you can easily deal them as an expiring contract.

So I ran some numbers, using some pretty big assumptions.
First off, I have the following minutes estimations (These are averages, btw... I don't expect Jerebko to play exactly 2 minutes a night at each of PF and SF, for example):
    C: Drummond (30), Monroe (16), Gray (2)
    PF: Smith (30), Monroe (16), Jerebko (1), Mitchell (1)
    SF: Singler (22), Butler (14), Jerebko (3), KCP (4), Martin (5), Datome (1)
    SG: Meeks (28), KCP (14), Augustin (5), Bynum (1)
    PG: Augustin (20), Jennings (25), Bynum (3)
48 minutes per position, 240 total

Next, I used each of these players' 2013-2014 per-36 averages, and prorated them to the above minute totals. In other words, Augustin shot 2.6/6.2 3-pointers per 36 minutes last year, but if he only plays 25 minutes, we'd be looking at 1.8/4.3 points per game. Here's what I got as far as predictions:
    Name (2p/2pa) [3p/3pa] (ft/fta) - points
    Monroe: (6.0/12.1) [0/0.01] (2.8/4.4) - 14.8
    Smith: (4.9/10.7) [0.75/2.9] (1.8/3.3) - 13.8
    Meeks: (2.7/5.4) [1.8/4.4] (2.4/2.8) - 13.2
    Drummond: (5.5/8.75) [0/0] (1.6/3.8) - 12.6
    Augustin: (2.2/5) [1.8/4.3] (2.6/3) - 12.4
    Jennings: (2.4/6.2) [1.4/4.2] (2.2/2.9) - 11.3
    Singler: (1.65/3.36) [0.9/2.3] (1.4/1.7) - 7.3
    KCP: (1.4/3.15) [0.65/2.1] (.55/.7) - 5.3
    Butler: (0.7/2.0) [1.1/2.4] (0.4/0.4) - 5.0
    Bynum: (.6/1.4) [.07/.23] (.37/.46) - 1.8
    Martin: (.24/.53) [.28/.71] (.22/.3) - 1.5
    Jerebko: (.37/.72) [.17/.4] (.23/.32) - 1.5
    Gray: (.15/.34) [0/0] (.06/1.0) - 0.4
    Datome: (.11/.24) [.03/.16] (.03/.04) - 0.4
    Mitchell: (.05/.14) [0/0] (.14/.24) - 0.2
    Totals: (29/59.8) [8.8/24.1] (16.7/24.2) - 101.2

This is pretty interesting, Lamebrane. The only thing that I would add is that I think Dinwiddie will be ballin' with the Pistons by sometime in November. He says he can do everything right now. SVG will take the cautious approach, but he should be ready sooner than later. That does create an abundance of point guards. Assuming Monroe returns, the roster is at 16 and there is at least one more move to be made.

Jennings and Smith are either untradeable or tradeable similar to Ben Gordon trade and we all know how it worked. I have no doubt: firmly at PF spot Smith redeems himself, the biggest question mark at this roster is Jennings for me. SVG likes pick and roll, but that not Jennings cup of tea.

Agreed... Actually, if you reduce Jennings' playing time at all, the Pistons score a lot more.

There isn't any data on Dunbartonshire (that's what my tablet's auto-complete decided I really wanted to say) so that confounds the data set a little.

Do we have any info on how Dunbartonshire's knee is progressing?

I follow him on Twitter. Yesterday, he said that he is "pretty sure he is gonna be ready for training camp!" SVG says there is no timetable, though. SVG told Dinwiddie not to talk about his injury status.
