I can get with that idea.
First dead ball though, sub KCP into the game.

Cheeks needs to treat Pope like he's the starting SG.
Let him run with the starters in practice and don't even think twice about it.
Treat a guy like a franchise player and he'll play like a franchise player (sometimes). Gotta put some confidence in the kid's head and let him know you trust him.

...If Pope can't handle it, send him to the 2nd unit.

I can't possibly see that backfiring at all.

    NOT a fair comparison.

I'm not saying to "anoint" Pope to be the be-all-end-all savior of the franchise and trade away all other players to make room for him to display his outstanding talents. I'm not saying that we should make every roster decision and design the offense around him. I'm not sayin that we should stick by him loyally over the next 5 seasons while we wait for him to take the initiative to improve his game and show just a small amount of leadership. I'm not saying that we should give him inflated contracts out of blind loyalty/stupidity and not based on merit. I'm not saying we should treat him like a superstar and allow him to repeatedly disrespect coaches, teamates and fans while we just let it slide.

All I'm saying is that KCP needs to have the "expectations" placed on him that he's going to be the starting 2-guard when the seasons starts based on the other options that we have. If he can't hack it - stick him on the bench.

Would you rather play Mr. Backfire???

Been out of the country for a few days stuck on a cruise ship with no ESPN...didn't know about the trade until this afternoon. I am all for it.... I mean I liked BK7, but there were times when he would get in a shooting slump and you wish he would at least pass, but he never could seem to find the open man...hence, only 4 assists a game.
So Brandon K for Brandon J gets a thumps up from me. Jennings was on my fantasy team last year regulary provided positive points in with only the FG% hurting me, but I don't think it was any worse than Knights.

Most of would have rather have seen Joe make some moves other than stand pat with last years team. Just have to hope and pray that Smith and Jennings aren't this years version of BoT and BG.

They can't be as Charlie can only dream of being even remotely close to Smith on D. And Jennings is a true PG, so he should be able to contribute outside of his scoring with assists and steals.

Understood that many fans here had had expectation on Stuckey and felt that he has failed Pistons fans, it's okay, because he's not the first and wouldn't be the last player who does not pan out like expectation. No offence intended here, it will be very appreciated to have somebody to provide links that far away fans like me can see how Stuckey disrepected his team mates. On the other hand, it could be that Stuckey was denied by some of his team mates the day since CB was traded away.

They are both on EXTREMELY reasonable contracts and anyone who says otherwise has lost their mind. Jennings is only 23. Smith, 27, with 3 and 4 year contracts respectively. Sure, Smith's contract is pretty hefty per year (c. $13m) but everybody knows what he brings. That is a tradeable contract if I have ever seen one.

I think Panda makes an important point.
Neither one of these guys was at the top of my wish list when the summer started. -But I can totally live with the price that Joe paid to bring each of these guys to the Pistons. Both contracts are assets rather than liabilities. They will be able to be traded IF/when the time ever comes.

One of those situations where both parties think they are better off with the other guy.

The Pistons might actually be able to run a play out of a timeout now instead of dribbling the shot clock out.

Jennings isn't the best player in the world, but he is a big-time player and he carries himself that way.

There is a 0.0 chance that Billups starts over him.

Brandon Jennings is pretty good. It's hard to argue we could have done much better for 8 mill a year. He can simply do so many things on offense that Knight cannot.

Look at the passes he makes. Look at the drives to the rim. It's a radically different player than we've gotten used to watching at the point.

Yup, but it's going to be a season of 'Why's he jacking shots?!?!' still.

Is Brandon Jennings better than Jeff Teague?

I'd rather see Jennings jack up shots than Stuckey colliding or Knight struggling with dribbling.
