After watching just 3 quarters of Detroit pummel this team, it got me thinking. I have been reading a lot about anti-tanking and all of that rubbish, including on this forum. So where do Charlotte go from here? Obviously they can't win enough games to be a contender this year. So its irrelevant what happens. I feel sad for this team. I played for many months on a losing team and it sucked. We only won 25% of our games because we were simply outmatched. I hated it. They have had no support, their coach obviously can't cut it. I personally want this team to hit big in the lottery and take home sweet sweet Davis juice, or at least MKG/Robinson. They need competitors on their team. What are everyones thoughts?
The owner of the Bobcats must have absolutely no basketball experience, to let something like this happen to his franchise. The Millionaire must have made his money selling urinal cakes............
I have been surprised by the lack of effort by the Bobcats tonight. There were several Piston fast breaks in which the Charlotte guys were just jogging back. Where is the pride? Perhaps when they saw Charlie V sub in, they knew they had no chance.
To be fair, a lot of the damage was done before MJ was there. They have a fresh slate once Maggette is gone. No Diaw either. I think they have the potential to draw large crowds if they can build a decent team. Not a top 3 every year team, but a decent team.
I love the Pistons, but I am a fan of the game first and foremost. Scapegoats in the league are good for nobody.
While I do feel bad for the team's players, their front office gets no pity from me. They gutted that team with the express goal of building through the draft OKC style. Their GM, Rich Cho, was assistant GM when OKC did their building a few years back as well. They're getting exactly what they wanted - a losing season. Now I don't think they foresaw being near-historically bad, but this is what they chose to go with. Charlotte's tv crew also used a Frank classic today: "Everyone wants the baby, but first you have to go through the pregnancy." Just so happens their pregnancy has been more difficult than anyone else's.
Yep, they gave away their three best players for next to nothing. February 24, 2011 Traded Gerald Wallace to the Portland Trail Blazers for Dante Cunningham, Sean Marks, Joel Przybilla, cash, a 2011 1st round draft pick (Tobias Harris) and a 2013 1st round draft pick. July 13, 2010 Traded Alexis Ajinca and Tyson Chandler to the Dallas Mavericks for Matt Carroll, Erick Dampier, Eduardo Najera and cash. July 12, 2010 Let Raymond Felton walk, who signed as a free agent with the New York Knicks.
I don't feel sorry for Charlotte at all. They've made their own poop stew and they're eating it. As a lifelong Piston fan, I tend to root against Mike Jordan so seeing his team swimming in futility doesn't bother me one bit.
Was wondering, if they get the 1st pick, they will almost certainly pick Davis. With their front line of Biyombo and Davis, no doubt they are 2 athletic bigs, but can they score with such front line? I'm just hoping they will trade one of these 2 guys to us.......
I feel bad for the fans. Charlotte used to be a great NBA city. Then came the entire debacle with the owner of what used to be Charlotte Hornets, which resulted with the team moving to Louisiana. Then they got the expansion Bobcats which never got off the ground really. I remember watching a young Hornets team battling a young Bulls team in the 4-5 spots in the playoffs. I believe that was 2003 or something like that. It was an amazing series. Bulls came a long way since then. Hornets just crapped the bed.
What is the prevailing opinion of the OKC Thunder up there? Do people love 'em or hate 'em? ...I'd guess that hate would win out but I have no idea.
