For the 5th straight season we are not in it..:yellowprison: Let the Boston-LA finals rivalry begin again. Lets remind everyone that the Pistons have a mini finals rivalry with the Lakers facing them three times and winning 2.

The Detroit Pistons record is 3-2 in the modern finals (the Fort Wayne Pistons were 0-2).

The Celtics - Lakers have faced each other 11 times in the Finals with the Celtics holding a 9-2 lead...including 8 in a row between 1959 and 1984, as the 60's Celtics of Russell, the Jones Boys, Havilicek, Heinson and Cousy, repeatedly beat up the Lakers Baylor and West.

We can discuss the finals games in this thread and those Sheed faithful can cheer him on as he tries to get his second ring and prevent Derek Fisher from getting his 5th ring....:)

One tidbit of info, anybody old enough to remember that in game 7 of the 1962 finals when Bill Russell had a double-double scoring 30 points and 40 rebounds!!

I know our Pistons aren't there, but lets just let enjoy some basketball and let the games begin!!

I can't believe I'm saying this, but yes. Go Celts. Well, some of 'em. I'm only rooting for Sheed, Rondo and KG really.

So looks like "Beat LA" is again this year's theme again...:good:

I just have to sit here while my wife and mother-in-law cheer for every Laker point and I secretly/reluctantly cheer for the Celtics.:sssh:

Yep he was..... as nobody else was probably over 6'7 so he dominated the boards more than Rodman or Ben Wallace could ever dream of doing.

I will be watching my man Sheed all the way. I even keep an eye on him when he's on the bench, see what he's doing. Hope his back is better. He has done his job well so far in these playoffs...

I'm really looking forward to the Finals this year. It would have been unwatchable if the Cavs made it.

I'm pulling for the Celtics. They have played some exciting basketball during the playoffs.

You are so right. If Boston wasn't there, I wouldn't even turn it on...

I think ABC fails miserably when it comes to its' pre-game and halftime shows. Cavs v Lakers would have been bad, but C's v Lakes won't be a walk in the park either.

    Mike Wilbon is way annoying.

I would skip the pre and halftime shows if the Pistons were playing.

Yeah, TNT has got by far the best pregame and halftime reports while I enjoy ESPN:s crew with JVG & co during the games.

Just watched A Courtship of Rivals about the Bird/Magic-rivalry. HBO sure makes good documentaries, I enjoyed it alot since my interest in the NBA started just about when those guys quit.

If the Pistons were playing, ABC would skip/ignore the Pistons too, as it would be all about the Lakers, Kobe, Ron-Ron, Bynum's knee, Lamar Kadashian, Phil and Jack Nicholson.....I wonder whatever happen to Dyan Cannon:sssh:

In 2004, the ABC didn't recognize the Pistons were playing until they were leading in game 4 and it was about to be 3-1 Pistons...

Cavs Lakers would have been non-stop Lebron vs Kobe and can Lebron does this and that and take it to the next level, blah.. - and they wonder why they never get the ratings.

Celts have that underdog kind of we are not supposed to be here but we are thing going on. Plus they have Ray Allen so that turns it for me in a series that I am not incredibly passionate about.

    Should be good.

I'm just excited to see the Lakers being held to less than 100 points each game.
The question for me is...Who will Kobe have shipped out once they lose again? :pound:

    Go Celtics !!!
