Booooojah. The Goon Squad what a great name.

They way that Davis and Maxiel have played the past two games should be a no-brainer for Flip Saunders.

With Sheed injured, it was an opportunity for Flip to use different lineups, what happened was he stumbled onto one that actually works.

Actual intimidation in the paint where others dare tread to go.

JMax played well and made the open shot at the end when he had to. The last two games he has done a better job of moving the opponents off their rebounding position before going for the rebound, hence a higher rebound per minute total.

Pistons still need Sheed. Without Ray Allen playing for the road weary Sonics, the Pistons should have beaten them by double figures.

The question now is how many minutes will JMax get once Sheed returns, especially since Mr Vigara is playing so well. Since Sheed likes to play on the outside so much on offense it would interesting to see a front line of Sheed, JMax and Mr. Viagra.

You couldn't try this against a team with a good perimeter-shooting SF. If any of those three guys had to leave the paint, they would get abused on D. With the versatility of Tay, you could go big when CB or Rip are getting a breather.

What I liked a lot about JMax last night was how well he was running the floor, even towards the end of the game when he had already logged 30+ minutes.

The Goon Squad name won't make much sense after Davis takes the starting spot.

    I agree with your point.

However, I was not thinking of that lineup as a regular lineup, but just in certain situations, including the one you mentioned. You could also probably play some zone defenses with that lineup.

Why would you refer to Dale as Mr. Viagra?? I hardly think Dale has any health problems. Some of the Pistons forum members may be old enough for viagra, but I bet Dale doesn't use it.

These guys have really impressed me. If they can do this on a nightly basis then then my estimation of the Pistons chance at a title this year goes up. This is the kind of physical play that gets results come playoff time.
Watching a guy come into his own and find his level in the league is a real treat for me as a sports fan. Especially right at this time, J Max is already looking better than I expected and now I am wondering just how good will this guy be. He has already shown a lot of improvement on defense and rebounding and looks even more sure of his offense. For an undersized power forward he sure looks like the man among boys, intimidating the opposition and claiming the paint as his own. Joe said he picked this guy because of his heart and competitive intensity, good call.

If Maxiell's performance ain't enough to convince Mr. "I play the starters as much as possible so that they get worn out"- Saunders, it's time to fire him or buy him a pair of good glasses at least.
Our bench could be pretty decent, with Davis, Mc Dyess and Maxiell batteling for the frontcourt spots. If only Delfino finally finds his groove, there is nothing to worry about. Oh, that Flip Murray guy. Trade him as long as he's got any worth.

I sure hope so. It was great seeing front court guys other than the usual getting mins and contributing.
