Cavs, slim pickins Slim pickins and table scraps...poor Cavs... Top choices slipping away; Cavs chase Anthony Parker, Shawn Marion - cleveland.com
This is tons of good info Gman....thanks a bunch. Another one I just saw on ESPN...Leon Powe. Boston didn't even extend a qualifying offer, so now he's unrestricted. Didn't he have some really good games against us during last years playoffs?

Agreed. Similar to Boozer a few years ago. I'll be the first one to admit that I don't know nearly as much as I should about the financial or structural aspect of the NBA, but I really don't like their system. Why the heck can't they wait until the salary cap is determined before starting free agency? Or at the very least, why can't players actually "sign" with a team instead of this "verbal agreement" crap? It would avoid a lot of problems.
Whats up Jammer.. Squeeze play between the start of summer leagues and the end of the Championship series. They've been stretching the season now for years and it's got them backed into a corner. Of your two suggestions waiting until the cap is actually known makes the most sense. Having guys sign "Letters of Intent" (LOI), would likely work - only problem being what happens if a team has signed a couple guys and the cap comes in lower than planned and budgeted for? If they then waive a guy on a LOI (commitment), and all the other teams already had maxed themselves out with commitments? I guess that guy waived would find himself out in the cold. It seems like each year the players are making their minds up a lot sooner to assure themselves their commitments value is maximized before the money and opportunities run out. Used to be the players would take a little more time deciding where to sign. Now it's a mad rush. Though I remember both Grant Hill and Tim Duncan were on planes to Orlando at the stroke of midnite when Free Agency began back in 2000, (can you say tampering). Back then the FA period started in the first week of July and the players were prohibited from actually signing before August 1st. Where today the spread has shrunk to a week. It seems like the way to solve the problem is to figure out and deliver the salary cap information the same week the Championship series ends. You'd think they would have the technology to do that in the year 2009...
Turks wife likes Toronto better.. Turkoglu backs out of Blazers' five-year deal | Sporting News From the Globe in Toronto Raptors reach deal with Turkoglu - The Globe and Mail
His wife must be a real piece of work. At least we now know who where's the pants in that family! I bet Hedo and Doug Christy are best friends.
T dat but who wouldn't want to be in a place that your family is happy to be? Plus, they offered more (albiet slightly) cash.
The ability to be angry at a person for making a decision that they are perfectly within their rights to make never ceases to amaze me...why do these things bother so many people? I understand Blazer fans getting upset because they really wanted to land a top FA, but people always seem to tee off on a guy when he does. It's not like he signed the deal and refused to show up and play. Teams ship guys out on a whim all the time...this doesn't bother me at all. He did what he thought was best for him...more power to him...
What's was best for him and his ear drums.......cause wifey would've never stopped Yaking in Portland......She would Yakked him into a Fifth of Yac everynight, she basically would've have turned him into Vin Baker.
Put yourself in his shoes. You've accepted an offer after a job search, and all of a sudden another company calls and offers more money and a job in the industry you wanted to work. What's your move? Those opportunities don't come knocking many times.
lesson learned: do not ever underestimate the power of wife. Now I'm asking typical woman-ish question:what does Turks' wife finds in Toronto? americans surely feel very offended here right now because of Turks' wife preferred cannuckian city to americans'.
if i was a portland fan i'd be disapointed... but i can see why he did what he did, the boozer situation is not at all the same, to get your employer to rip up your contract with the understanding your doing it to give you a better contract... thats a whole different box of worms.
