No-trade clauses are rare in the NBA, from what I've heard. I have contemplated the same scenario, though. That would just be hilarious.
That's my point exactly! I don't really care what these lame cats do, but I'm really worried about this being the beginning of the end. Can you imagine Bird calling Zeke to recruit him to come and run the Point for the Celtics? Can you imagine a 25 year old Barkley trying to go to the Lakers? We watched guys that wanted to beat the best, not collude with them. Is this the "Can't beat 'em, join 'em" league now?
Well, those big 3 in Miami seem pretty afraid of Stuckey and Charlie AllStar, or they would have signed minimum contracts to play in Detroit. :P ;)
Los Angeles Lakers free agent Derek Fisher meets with Miami Heat - ESPN Los Angeles Sounds like Kobe is not cool with Fish leaving. This will be an interesting competition for his services.
If nothing else but to keep the real best player in the league happy, then this should be a no brainer. Fisher is the epitome of the "Glue Guy". Its clear who was the emotional leader of the team.
it is pretty funny, not normally a fan but some great bits in there.... quite liked his solution to who the pg will be, pick a fan from the stands for each game..... let them keep there jersey after the game.
Agreed. I remember the Lakers' title from last year (#1 of their back-to-back), it was even more pronounced how much Kobe was almost an outsider on his team and Fisher was the chemistry guy.
As someone said on this thread earlier, this team still can't beat Lakers in a 7-game series. Hell, if Orlando were to get rid of Carter and sign a real PF, they won't even match up against those clowns.
I still think that the Heat would've been better off building around just Wade & Bosh. 2 stars + quality cast/bench is a much better formula than 3 stars + scrubs/unicorns.
- I guess reality hasn't sunk in yet Walt. We are talking Bron with Wade [slashing] and Bosh cleaning up the spills. I can pass !
Time will tell. I'll stand by my statement though. That team will win a lot of regular season games. Those three will need some serious help come playoff time. None of those guys are great defenders and it's hard to play 3 vs 5 for seven games in a row against the same team. Sure, they'll dispose of teams like Milwaukee, but teams like Chicago, Boston, Orlando (and Philly if AI and RIP join forces again) will give them real trouble.
I wonder how long it will be before Riley makes the announcement that he is coming back to coach again?
It'll be Pat....but he'll be wearing a terrible "Jamie Kennedy Experiment" looking disguise and his new name won't even be creative. It'll be something like "Matt Smiley", and he'll insist he's most definitely not Pat, because Pat 'would never do that'.
Third consecutive loss. The press starts to call the heat a "failed experiment " pat steps in to save them...
The question isn't whether or not they can get role players around them, it's will they get the right players. There are more than capable players in the D-League and overseas to fill out that roster. They really only need specialists. The biggest question is who they get at center to deal with Dwight and size to negate Bynum. If LeBron decided he wanted to average a triple double this year, he could. That's scary. Miami is scary. Too many ppl are judging this on emotions and character evaluations, but it's hard to disagree with the basketball logic. These players may be talented enough to make it work immediately.
If they get out of the gate at only 10-10 and you see Erik Spoelstra suddenly gain a little weight and his hair and face look strange, then you know that that is really Pat under that disguise...
