as long as the roster is as bad as it is, any forum member could coach this squad with the same success as anyone else

Seems like this is a situation that an inspiring coach could make a huge difference. Maybe Frank has some of that.

He's passionate and hard working, so hopefully he won't put up with any players who aren't.

Another side-of-the-coin. As an owner, you just dropped 400M. Your administrative personnel just selected the right discretionary aspect of the right analysis concerning the best coaching fit: this means a decision of parts, wholes and relationships. You have to begin here.

Gores is a different and new type of owner.

It remains to be seen that his exposure from the world of finance (30 years and counting) will dovetail into the world of complex human-cultural relations.

For JD, I criticize because his isolations that was once a plus and then things became complex...as a natural course: of those previously mentioned parts, wholes and relationships. The dark dudgeon of a lonely corner, is not a Potter magic. Are you becoming a certain form of Muggles? Know your weakness and at 4M+ a year; use that clout as personal strength.

Understand your new owner and then if not, you have this year and next year. But understand the age of automation (as McLuhan understood), when all things are translatable into anything else that is desired:

And this our life, exempt from public haunt,
Finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks,
Sermons in stones, and good in every thing.
    I would not change it.

    Amiens: Happy is your Grace.
That can translate the stubbornness of fortune
Into so quiet and so sweet a style.
(As You Like it, II, i. 15-21)

As quoted in, Marshall McLuhan, Understanding Media: The Extension of Man ( pg. 65).

The Pistons should make it a policy to only give coaches 1 year contracts. That way we never have to pay 2 at a time.

My reaction is more positive the more I think about it.

If You want someone with coaching experience then its near impossible to find someone who was not fired from his last job which both Frank and Woodson were.

One advantage with Frank is we finally break that link to the 04 coaching staff ( with the exception of Curry who played under Dumars ). So its a fresh start at least.

Has even one picture surfaced of Lawrence Frank's head tilt? I don't like this hire one bit.

I think he can head tilt when called upon.

I was thinking maybe he was just rude to the office staff.

I thought management was disgusted by Kuester interviewing for other jobs.

Same here. If this was a JD hire, then a big yawn and walking-on-egg-shell heaven for the coach.

Who needs a narcissistic bunch that toe-pick a shallowness of commitment. Who have no understanding of what system dynamics (more psychology, than anything else) can help nurture "good feelings".

This nurturing process starts at the top. When there is no backup on its' understanding and the value of constant persistence; then all is lost. In short, no buy-in from administration means the organization flounders under a crap-shoot of inconsistent results. One moment good, more moments bad.

This time around, you don't screw with the owner's stamp of approval.

Frank is probably one of the most knowledgeable coaches now coaching. Analytics are up and down with this guy: you won't beat this fellow conceptually on who should be able to do what...and when. Excellence means knowing that certain talent has the ability to adapt and switch toward a system flow. You need athletes that understand a peripheral vision adapted to once offensive and then once defensive fields...a field of dreams out of corn-bred cross-pollination.
