He will not coach and doesn't need to carry this excessive baggage.
You want stat people, then he will get the best meta-analysis.
You want good scouting, then he will bring in the best scouts.
You want video and advanced scouting, then this is done.
You want a good coach and assistants, then this will be done.
Most important of all, and he knows this: Gores will be faithful to him.

Wouldn't that be a shot at John Beilein if Phil Jackson were allowed to pick the video guy?

Gores already passed on Trey Burke.

    It is a single shot.
The diameter of bullet, velocity and true aim is but a moment and,
like all moments, once started, cannot be retrieved.
    The target, are Zen virtues:
    • Wisdom
    • Courage
    • Humanity
    • Justice
    • Temperance
    • Transcendence

Gores should offer him a piece of the team.

Nope. Why the hell do we want P-Jax coaching? I don't see Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol on this roster. He isn't a good fit, he doesn't like changing what he gets players to do.

Why would we want one of the greatest and most respected coaches of all time?

Don't get me wrong, I am not a huge fan, and I don't think I could handle Lee calling Jackson clueless every game, but the dude is SOMEONE with a resume almost no one else in the history of basketball IN THE WORLD can touch.

    That's the downside.

The Piston Reality. We try for Jackson or...
We reach for the bottom of the barrel again...
I just wish the bottom was empty by now...

Yeah sure. Except he will only coach at home games because he doesn't have a hip. So we will pay tonnes of money to get 41 games of Phil Jackson, and for the other 41 we get Loyer et al. So if Jackson keeps up his winning percentage we will get 29 w's from him and if Loyer keeps up his % we will get 10 games from him.

Whoopie, I can really look forward to a franchise which pulls off 39 wins a season.

All sarcasm aside, its just not a smart hire, and it's not that I don't think his system will work here(which I don't). How many years do you honestly think PJax has left in him? He retired for a reason and didn't get hired back by the Lakers for a reason. His health is ailing. We can't reasonably expect him to hang around and right the ship in Detroit, especially if he has to watch Josh Smith launch 3 balls like its his last minute on earth. I'd have a heart attack from that.

Larry Brown almost repeated while sitting in a chair specially padded for his butt with a sneaky leaker strapped to his thigh.

Maybe Arnie Kander can get Phil's hip right? That's 58 win pace.
