I'm not really inspired by the names on the list. Seems like we're just going for the cheaper route again and not shelling out more dough to hire a big name coach.

I don't like Woodson. AT ALL. He's supposed to be a defense coach, yet his Atlanta teams were never much more than mediocre defensively. And his offense is iso, iso, iso... I've seen ENOUGH of that in the Q era to last 10 years.

Since Phil Jackson couldn't take us to the ECF next year, I don't care about NBA coaching experience. Whoever we pick will get the experience over the next few seasons while we're sucking... and waiting for all the bad contracts to term out.

I say no retreads. Find the next Thibideau.

Which big name coaches would you like to see?

Adelman. Been successful anywhere he's coached and good with young players and he'd be perfect with Monroe.

I see Dwane Casey was mentioned in the press.

One thing whoever hires him can bank on is that he's learned from his past mistakes, and you won't catch him "mailing it in" any time soon. :sssh:

If we're going to be serious it should be Woody, Laimbs, Thomas or JVG, not necessarily in that order.

If Joe wants to be "Impactful" his best bet would be to hire Isiah without so much as an interview and make Mark,Ricky and Bill his assistants.
Even if he traded Prince, Rip and Stuckey for Capspayce people would come to watch the show. They could pull Joe away from the popcorn and suit up against the current players for "charity".

    even Golden State?

I'm quite happy to (hypocritically) chastise the coaches we have had, but to be honest, I have no idea who would be a good coach for us.

With that in mind though, I like the idea of Laimbeer coaching us for nostalgic reasons and that I feel he will command enough respect from the players to get them in line. It seems he had that effect on the Shock.

Thomas obviously commands that same nostalgic feeling from me, but from what I have seen of his time with NY, he seems to generate more friction than respect.

I am wary of hiring another unproven head coach though.

I really hope it's not Laimbeer. I'm not very nostalgic, so I don't see a reason to hire the guy.

Well, no one is successful in Golden State.

Adleman isn't even on the radar screen....he is 65 and demands a huge contract. We can scratch him off the list.

Thank God! I hate those "Jacksonisms"

If I hear the terms "Mama there goes that man" and "he's a knockdown shooter" one more time, I'll try to punch him through my flatscreen.....

I enjoy his commentary and find him and JVG to be the best team of announcers in sports but I've never met anyone who agrees with me nor recall reading anyone compliment them. I think ABC/ESPN signed him just for me.

I like those 2 also. It is Breen who brings them down.

Yep, once again me and the slo one are on the same page. I absolutely hate it when Mike Breen says "Bang" on a three point dagger.....where is Al Micheals when we need him??

Hiring Isiah would be a bad mistake. He's one of the greatest to ever play the game, but he has an awful track record in a suit. He'd do more damage than good here, especially with Joe D still at the helm.

Laimbeer has proven that he is a good coach. He's done it at that league that shall not be named, and also at Minny. I'd much rather see him at the sidelines than JVG or Adelman.

BTW, I don't think we can pick and choose assistants. Isn't a head coach supposed to pick his own crew?

I was thinking we aren't really supposed to pick the head coach either.

Yep we can only suggest a head coach and the assistants....anybody on this forum have the power of persuasion or the [STRIKE]Darth[/STRIKE] jedi force to convince Gores/Dumars to hire Laims with Mahorn and whoever??
