All right. So there I was, watching the Pistons hit the fifty-point mark in Game 3, less than a minute until the end of the third quarter. And then I got to thinking. "Holy crap, man. This seems so familiar. Disappointment. A 2-1 hole can be overcome, yes. But it's not going to happen. I hope I eat crow. Still, . . Am I really that surprised we're going to be down 2-1 after a seemingly inspirational effort in Game 2? It's sad to say this, and I know I've said it before, but I don't think these guys have enough left in the tank to win another championship. You know the reasons. I am not going to bother typing them all down. We can still get good value in trades from Chauncey, Rip, and/or Rasheed (possibly Tay/Dyess). Billups laying an egg. The only shed of light I've gathered is the play of Rodney Stuckey. I just think it's time to start over. And I think Dumars is feeling the same way.
where were you blokes 2 years ago when I was trying to tell you this was gonna happen? I, however, was extremely compelled by option #4
I don't mean to get down on anyone but can we at least pretent like we have seen a 7-game series before? We go through this everytime they lose a game.
Max, it's hard to ignore that this happens EVERY year. We aren't going to win this series. We weren't to begin with. Flip will not change, and he won't adjust or play the players he needs to. AA will continue to sit. CB will continue to start. BOS coaching staff will continue to adjust. Amir will continue to sit. We've been getting killed on the boards this whole series, and we haven't been able to stop them really. You can't win like that. edited to add; I don't think we need to rebuild (just get a new coach, and play the young guys), but i'm not opposed to trading a starter, and honestly i wanted Dice gone the year before but that was only b/c i knew he wouldn't get his minutes cut, and we have depth that needs to play more at that position.
And every third series the Pistons put up a disgusting display against a team they should beat. Some people saw the writing on the wall before others, that's all.
If they (Detroit) don't win this Series, then Joe Dumars needs to do some serious evaluation of this team, as it is right now, especially the Starters. They do too much of this laying an egg crap like they did last night. I do love the fact that Stuckey looks to be real, and has heart, unlike Rip, Chauncey, and Rasheed last night. Too much drama from this team at times. Why can't they go for the kill when they have the talent to do so???
If they lose game six in Detroit, Jeff Van Gundy will hang around an extra day for his interview with Joe... then he will suggest trading Billups for real center and backup pg and will start Stuckey next year.
Well, the way I see it, IF (and thats a very big if) we manage to beat Boston, we still have to play the Spurs or Lakers, and I can't realisticly see us beating either of them. These guys just look so flat out there, we've been here so many times before.
I will now propose an obligatory and horribly one-sided trade. Can you say championship? RealGM: Trade Checker
In other words you are saying no use going to the big dance and getting swept and embarrassed? Well some thought that would happen in 2004
No, I'm saying, stop hanging onto the thought that we can repeat 2004, because we've proven the last 4 seasons since, its not going to happen.
After being down 1-2? Granted, the loss surprised all of us, but I expected the Pistons to lose one of their home games in Games 3 and 4. I just did not expect it to be Game 3. If you expected the Pistons to easily capitalize on Boston's road woes, go up 3-1, and finish the Celtics than that is insane. The loss was disappointing, but this series is not over yet. Wait until we are down 3-1 and going into Boston. The Pistons lack of execution was a factor, not just energy.
Thats a good idea. In 04 and 05, the last time we were the road team, we split both opening home sets and went into Indy/Miami tied 2-2.
