The Pistons need to get more athletic. They've been walking the ball up the court and watching guys like LeBron breeze by for a layup or dunk for 3 years now. Everyone talks about how experienced they are, but just like the Spurs, they're getting old.

I would suggest moving Rip or Tayshaun. Lots of teams need experience.

As for moving Sheed, earlier in the season the suns expressed interest in moving Amare Stoudemire...But I doubt they'd be interested in that kind of deal at this point.

We could also use a true center, one that can block shots and get 9-10 rebounds a game and score on the inside. Too bad we didn't resign Ben Wallace just because of Flip Saunders.

As for a new coach, Avery Johnson would be the best choice.

Guys like Lebran dunk on everybody.

We will have the best 3-guard rotation in the league next year. Prince will be fine, he just cannot play over 36 MPG. For whatever reason thats his thing.

We need to improve the frontcourt. Getting out-boarded by almost 2-1 in a couple of games and watching Perkins get off in game 5. Its obvious, we need some improvements up there.

We could have been in the Finals with Ben Wallace this year or last if it weren't for Flip Saunders. He tried to make Ben an offensive guy. Joe told Ben to take the 60 mil deal in Chicago and ever since then Ben has been a scrub, never finding a true home. Cleveland treats him like Maxiell, strictly for energy. I really hope Flip gets fired..

I think it's time for us to part ways with Rip Hamilton. He's a great player, and he was one of the key factors for our success in the last 5 years... but he's right at his peak.. and we need to make a move, to ensure our future is set, before he starts a downward spiral. Find a backup for Prince, I don't buy into the trade/sit Prince talk... he's a very solid player in the prime of his career, and can more than hold his own at the SF position.

If we could snag a McGrady type of player in a trade for Rip and someone else (Sheed if we have to), possibly get a true Center... this team could work. I would suggest holding onto Sheed until the draft deadline, when there's a team on the verge who needs a big man... then we can stock up on young talent and/or draft picks.

It's all about the future, and it's sad to see them break up, but it has to happen eventually... and something has to happen now.

Unfortunately I am not sure that we know what we are going to get from AJ next year. Is he going to be a Rodman type rebounder for us next year solving that problem?? We don't know because he never got the consistent minutes he should have for us to be sure.

I agree, we need a center that can score, play defense and rebound.....

Where is the garden that they grow from, let`s go pick one out for our very own!

Where are we going to get these players folks???

I suppose from draft picks, but how do we know that Flip or whoever our coach is next year won't just bench him in favor of Maxiell and Amir?

Huh? Flip took Ben out of the offense...probably a big reason Ben left. LB was the one that tried and somewhat succeeded in getting Ben into the offense.

I worded that wrong. I was trying to say Flip didn't want to play defense, which was the Piston's formula to success before he got there.

Dre, it hasn't gotten so bad we need to go Artest. Can you imagine his undisciplined mind with all the light of a ConFin on it?
For the jollies it would be a riot. But I wouldn't do that to my team.

Cloud, you don't come in til the P/Os. So what would you do if we rebuild, just keep throwing them back.
    P.S. I'm your guy buddy.
    -
Good posts Himat, 'cept don't let Dre give you any bad ideas.

How about Chauncy for Marion and Sheed for Camby.

    That gives us:

    PG-Stuckey, AA
    SG- Hamilton/ Prince
    SF-Marion/ Prince
    PF-Maxiel/ Johnson/ Dyce
    C-Camby/ Johnson/ Dyce

Serious D. Talk about blocked shots/ rebounds and steals! Fast paced, exciting, and can probably score pretty well too. Gets us younger by getting Max, Amir and AA into the mix. I would be psyched to see that team on the court.

Anyone have a direct line to Dumars, so I can start working him over to get this done?

Stuckey is too young to be the starting point guard, and Afflalo is not a true PG. If there's anyone we need to keep, it's Chauncey.

    Stuckey > Rondo. Stuckey> Fisher

    Fisher, Rondo=NBA Finals

Chauncy does not equal NBA Finals.

Put the right team (able vets) around him and he'll be just fine. May take a little time at the beginning of the year, but by playoff time, he'll be good to go. So maybe we'll need to get a vet PG with the MLE to back him up if you don't like AA there.

actually, CB and rip carried this team, in spite of fact that both had some nasty injuries.

Stuckey is much stronger than Rondo, and is a better decision maker. He's not afraid to take big shots. Rondo is over-rated because just because he can rebound good.

Maybe 2. But clearly he is not the great leader we need to get over the hump. He folded last year and the year before as well.
