"the playbook" versus the line

    Here's a funky number for you...

    Pistons' regular season scoring was up 2.2 points per game this year versus last (Flip versus Larry).

    If BBen had shot free throws at the team average excluding BBen, the Pistons would have scored 109 more points - 1.3 per game.

    (Of course, some of those attempts happened because he wasn't shooting well, but a lot of that was in the playoffs and not the regular season, and besides, it's summer and we can be a little looser.)

    So, Ben shooting better from the line would have been 60% as good as Flip's whole playbook. Of course, at Ben's new rate of pay versus Flip's salary, the playbook is still more economically efficient.

    One more bucket a game? Then why did we win 10 more games? Did we lose 10 games in LBs last year by 1 or 2 points?
