Only 2 this afternoon so no sweep to fly home and cheer about. They had their chances but yesterdays hero's Granderson and Cabrera were blinded by the sunlight striking out twice each. Not to be out done, Inge struck out three times. They left 13 runners on base and JL, when had chances, didn't pinch hit for Rayburn in the 8th when he had two runners on nor in the 9th when he had a man on with Laird coming up to bat and down to his last out. Laird got on via getting hit by a pitch, but JL didn't even pinch run for him even tough dude was in obvious pain:dizzy2: Well the California road trip was 3-3 so can't be to upset and we still have at least a 3.5 game lead heading home tonight.
make it 4.5 as White sox fall to 63-64!! All Tigers have to do is go 20-16 from here out to reach 87 wins. Twins and Sox would have to go 24-13 JUST to tie. It would take EXCELLENT ball from them to do that fom here out.
Justin Verlander deserves the AL Cy Young award...yes over CC. Edit: Woah, didn't notice Miggy is close to catching Mauer for a potential AL MVP too...
Good point...I dont blame INGE for being INGE...He's a good number 8 hitter with 24 homers , but got in over his head with that Derby fiasco and plays solid GG defense. Plus, never underestimate the importance of a clubhouse guy. He's a true Tiger.
hey...numbers dont lie. The problem is taht if they dont score, they could easily go 16-20. Cabrera is Mr September but we need TWO more guys to go CRAZY. I vote Polanco and Guillen.
Well put! It's pretty funny how out of place he was there. I always sort of had that feeling when CB & company were in the all-star games. They were good and all, but playing solidly and within a team is different than being an all-star showoff with eye popping talent.
Great comeback win today....after being down 3-1 in the bottom of the 8th. Polanco 3 run dinger gives Verlander his 15th win of the season and what looks like now a six game lead over ChiSux. The twinkies however are still trying to hang around and if they hold on to win today vs Texas, they will remain 4.5 back. Go Rangers!! A win is a win, but six hits?? Come on guys....if the bats had been potent enough in the loss yesterday and the one last Wednesday they could have been flipped those losses to wins and we could be sitting on a 6 game win streak and a minumum 7 game lead... Go Tigers!!
No guarantees here, but an encouraging fact: Over the past 13 seasons, no team that led a division by more than three games entering September has failed to make the playoffs.
