Coulda used some of last night's runs in Minny but thankfully they didn't call the game after 4 innings with el tigres up 9-1. Action Jackson!

My Tigers are Inge & Clete.

    weeekly review:

Tigers should be 24-11 right now thanks to their starting pitching. Bad losses:

    - the B Lyons blown save for Jackson at Toronto
    - Verlanders prefect game then blown gasket vs Seattle
    - late inning loss at Angels after that kid pitcher was killed
    - the two losses vs twins this week

Now we are 19-16 in spite of that, but after outscoring A's 23-2 in last two games, we need to steal those 5 games back.

Jackson, Verlander and Porcello are locks. Porcello looks like a young Roy Halladay. Perry is starting to relax. Seay needs to be a LEFTY ONLY pitcher. Zoom and Rodney will be there. Gallaraga WILL win 14 games. Tigers have allowed less HITS and only 6 HBP's than any team in AL. They lead AL in K's per inning. Remove the dead weight already.
here are the season wild cards:

    - Willis....Well i think he's toast, but...
    - Robertson. What's he good for?
    - Lyons.... a nobody
    - Bonderman...????????????????????????

    Stats Matter.......(at least in baseball,but....)

In 54 at bats, Ramon Santiago has 19 RBI's
In 133 at bats, Maggs Ordonez has 17 RBI's

Heart still matters. Enjoy your three days off, Maggs!

BTW, nice comeback today. Down 6-0 in the first and without Polanco and the injured guys they win 11-7. Miner did what he DOES best...pitch when he's needed 'early'! I dont want to see him after the 6th inning again.

    Keep an eye on:

-this French kid. Two good outings. I heard good things about him in the minors.
    - Galarraga. I said he may be coming back to Earth. Might need Bonderman sooner than later, but he was due a bad stretch after carrying the team last year.
    - Inge, Everett, Polanco, Santiago. 27, 16,15 and 19 RBI's. 77 rbi's and only 11 errors!!
    - Tigers are 3rd in AL in ERA and FIRST with 5 shutouts.

34 runs in 3 games!!! Let's hope it's the bats and not just Oakland's pitching that produced this onslaught and they continue with the offensive splurge and put some room between first place and second.

Pitching is good too, so more slip ups with the bullpen like what occurred in Twin cites last week.

    Go Tigers!!!

Yanks continue to walk off on Twinks.
We get red hot Texas at our house next. 2 of 3 would be expected.

Waht are we going to do next week when Bondo is ready to come up to the big club? Does ha replace Gallaraga for a while because he is struggling? The rest of the staff looks pretty good and I think you have to give Willis a few starts to see where he is at.

Do we hold off Bondo until we see how Willis does and then bring him up in his spot if he is not effective? I can't see any of our current starters going to the bullpen so how are we going to handle the extra starting pitcher? Do we put Bondo in the bully to start his comeback?

Lots of options but I am not sure how I would handle it. Porcello looks good and I don't think you want to send him back down if he is being effective.

    Nice problem to have.

Pitching wins games and if they can get 4 starters to go 7+ innings with leads, and the bullpen can hold 90% of the leads we can win the division and get back into the mix and 2006 form.

I was about to say Willis should be a 1 out guy.
Stopped Rangers 7 game win streak.

Verlander tonight. Should be a good pitcher's duel according to the stats. Hope Leyland goes with the speedy line up tonight. Maybe we can at least beat out some ground balls and then put pressure on Harrison with our speed on the base paths. Get him out of his element a little bit and then break him.

Tigers sweep...11 straight against the Rangers at Comerica. Another pretty good outing by Jackson with Rodney getting the save. I think it fair to say Clete has the best arm in the outfield.

Yep Tigers just won 4-3, over fellow division leader Texas Rangers. Another great game for Edwin Jackson, although Leyland almost over managed by leaving the youngster in for 131 pitches.

Rodney came in and got two men on in the ninth, but got someone to hit into a double play. That is two straight sweeps and six straight wins to put them at 23-16 and a 2.5 lead over the Royals and six ahead of the Royals and Chisox. Can this be a return of 2006??? Lets hope so.

Yeah...Leyland probably left him in too long with the pitch count, but he asked Jackson how he felt in the 8th and Edwin said 'fine'. Glad he got the win..he deserved it.

I still feel like someone needs to protect Cabrera eventually. Adam Dunn at DH? I think Guillen is going to be traded (maybe with Thames and Robertson) eventually. We could steal Dunn for one of those 3 and a prospect. We need to make sure anderson, ramirez and Thomas get AB's this year.
