    former Tiger Edwin Jackson throws a no hitter vs Rays.....Former tiger Dontrelle Willis was the first player out of the dugout to congratulate him...

    That was crazy. He barely got out of the 3rd inning with 7 walks and 68 pitches. He ended up throwing 149 pitches. Congrats to Edwin for perservering and making history!!

    I think someone said that the 149 pitches was the most thrown by any pitcher since 2005. In his interview about 20 minutes after the game he still did not have a ice pack on his shoulder and I think he stated he could go a few more innings.

    Leyland would have pulled him in the third with all the all of those walks and even if he had gone into the 9th with a no hitter, he would have pulled him as soon as he reached 120 pitches....

    Let's see what Jackson's next outing is like. You saw what happened to John Isner in his 2nd round match at Wimbledon...

    Another horrible call by the ump this time costs Tigers a game. With Damon pinch-hitting in the bottom of the 9th and Braves ahead 4-3 and bases loaded he was called out on a 3-2 pitch that was waaaaay outside. And then they wonder why people don't follow baseball.

    Electronic strikezone. Seems so obvious to me. It's like having foul poles vs. having the ups have to estimate. Foul poles didn't kill the spirit of the game.

    Yep. There's too much hanging on the umpires' guesses. Joyce guessed too on his call.

    Re: Tiger Chat 2010 - Zoom out with split elbow

    Tigers move .5 games ahead of Twinks but Joel pops his elbow. Probably gone for 8 weeks.

    Good for Gibby. Him and Tram will always be Tigers to me, no matter which team they are coaching.

    One stat I found interesting, both Tigs and Twinks were tied for best record against NL, at .725. Our WS year we were like 15-3.

    Here are the run spreads for all of the first place teams in baseball:

    Yankees: +97
    Rangers: +81
    Braves: +64
    Reds: +38
    Padres: +69

    Tigers: +7

    We're virtually tied with the Twin, who are +50

    There are 15 teams in baseball with better point spreads than us. This is a strange phenomenon.

    What is the reason?

    Boston and Tampa are good teams also with major win margins.
    Just win baby.

    Almost to the halfway point and here's what I'd like to see in the second half:

    Porcello get another shot (and he probably will);
    More at-bats for Alex Avila and fewer ABs for Laird;
    More competition for Inge at 3B; Inge's BA with RISP can't be good;
    Bat Damon 7th or 8th, let's see if he has any pride left;
    Pick up a reliever at the trade deadline to fill in for Zumaya
    or pick up a starting pitcher at the trade deadline (I still think the starting staff is weak); I can't see Bonderman getting better and Scherzer is a wild card
    Love to see Carlos Guillen get hot!

    I can't believe Bondo got a win against Minne.
    Laird is the better liked catcher.
