He was feeling overwhelming guilt over taking money without being able to play. I wish Bobby Higginson woulda felt that way a few years back.
I didn't want to start a new thread, but I wanted to post this somewhere. This is awesome!!!!! Wake Forest Baseball Coach Donates Kidney To Player Suffering Rare Condition | ThePostGame
You gotta love the Orwellian language of the charges. "Resisting an officer without violence" Sounds to me like he was probably trying to assert his rights.
So far...nobody has been hurt except himself. Not a good plan though if you're planning on a HOF career. To me...it seems that taking a swig out of the bottle in front of the cop is like a childish call for help.
Roscoe dutifully opened up a Tiger's discussion thread way back in January and nobody seems to care. Not much content so far, even with the season quickly approaching. Baseball could become very interesting this season...especially if Football and Basketball suffer from shutdowns. I researched the Tiger's recent history as I considered where they might finish and found that they haven't finished first in their division since 1987. Yikes...With only 5 teams to compete against, that's even more pathetic than the Lions. They also tricked me into predicting 98 wins for them last season, and then they delivered only 81 wins... I really believe in their level of talent though, [SARCASM]almost as much as I believe in the Philadelphia Eagles.[/SARCASM] Anyways, I'm going to predict 96 wins this season...along with a first place finish. Two tiger pitchers this season will top 18 victories, with Verlander winning 22 games. Now all I need is Bill Laimbeer to come over here and verify this vision.....
I'm going to predict 83-79. I worry about Phil Coke and Brad Penny as starters. Also, I worry about lack of punch at the bottom of the order (Inge, Avila, Peralta). It should be a fun year. I can't wait!! "For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land."
This season looks promising as long as Leyland doesn't blow it in September with over managing the late inning pitching match ups I am thinking at least 85-90 wins based on what I have seem in preseason. They will need Zumaya to have a nice recovery and at least be back before the all-star break and then pitch well all the way through to the end of the season.
I just take it day-by-day. At my age, I don't by green bananas, or make long term predictions. I'll just be happy to still be interested in the Tigers come September. "Its a long, long time from May to December...." P.S. Thanks, Bill, for the old Ernie quote. Still a favorite of mine.
Zoom is suppose to be the 7th-8th inning set up/hold guy before Valverde comes in the for the proverbial save. If he is there and affective, it makes both JV's jobs easier. Oh by the way Max Scherzer gave up 12 runs in 3 innings today.
Joakim Benoit is definitely the 8th inning setup guy. I think Ryan Perry is the 7th inning guy right now with Zumaya on the IR. Zumaya is nice insurance, but even without him, the bullpen should be okay.
