Tell me Woody, was every adult male at the stadium that day dressed in a suit, tie and fedora? Everytime I see footage of those games, all of the guys are dressed as if they were going to work....not like today's games where you wear your jeans and a baseball cap.
Well me working at home.. jeans are my normal work attire too....except when I have an early morning conference call where my attire is either my undershorts or PJ's...:nerd2:
Actually, it was called Briggs Stadium back then. I don't know about the bars, I didn't drink or smoke back then. Still don't. I was in many bowling alleys, as my dad was a top-notch bowler, and the fact that I was under age wasn't a problem. But they smelled a lot like the baseball stadium. P.S. I grew up in Kalamazoo, and we had a women's professional baseball team (just like they show in the movies) and they played a pretty good game, too. I don't remember ties and hats, but we sure dressed better than you guys do now!! A nice pair of slacks and one of Gores' five-button golf shirts would do any of you wonders.
If you look at those movies set in the 30's, 40's & 50"s "Pride of the Yankees", "The Natural" and "A League of their Own" or even the documentary "When it was Game" all of the guys are dressed in sports jackets/ties and even the women have on dresses.
I remember seeing them dressed up like that on TV. As far as in person, I remember as far back as seeing a bunch of fat guys with no shirts on drinking beer in the Tiger Stadium center field bleachers.
BRING ON THE SEASON!!!! 150 games to be broadcast on FoxSports Detroit. My wife can't stand the amount of time I spend in front of the 50" Plasma cheering on my teams. Oh Well.
I'm really starting to believe that we need to start a men's support group around here. But then what do we do with Rascoe and Jammer? I'd hate to exclude them based on what they wear to the bar.
That's just plain mean, Woody. Shame on you. Edmonton was the coldest place in North America yesterday morning and the second chilliest in the world. The Edmonton International Airport saw a record low of -46.1 C and -58.4 C with the windchill, outfreezing even the Arctic. Only Dzalinda, Siberia, appeared to be colder, with a weather station there recording temperatures of -48 C. Only Siberia was colder | Edmonton | News | Edmonton Sun I'm just sayin'...
