Six straight losses and getting swept twice by teams that you were rated higher than in preseason... What's bad is that the Twins and ChiSux are sucking even worse, and the tigers are only 2 games ahead of them Even if the Tigers had split those last six games, they would at least be in 2nd place ahead of the Royals, instead 2.5 games behind them... Still 134 games left and anything can happen, but you can't be losing games when Twins are losing too....
I would guess that the Tigers current record will affect the Longevity of Leyland's stay with the Tigers.
Clearly the league has had enough for the Tigers/Twink mess. How difficult would it be to sit our dead bats and bring up at least 4 players ?
I would have agreed with you...until this year. 1. Leyland really hasn't done anything since 2006. 2. Illitch has provided good enough players. 3. Our owner is getting too old to wait... 4. D. D. is also on the hot seat in his last contractual year... 5. Not good when the manager can be carbon dated.
I actually agree with Thee. How can you blame Leyland when he's got these guys on the roster? Magglio 0.159 Jackson 0.194 Inge 0.213 Rhymes 0.221 The team is batting less than 0.250.
The mayor of New York is proposing sending all illegal aliens to Detroit, where they can earn their citizenship, and increase the tax base. This is ok as long as some of them are Dominican ball players.
If these games only went 7 innings, the Tigers would have a possible winning streak going instead of 7 game losing streak... Yep they lose another in the 9th inning to those stanky Yankees... Now I agree Leyland should be on the hot seat
We need a poll determining when Leyland gets fired. We'd have to expect also the concerns of such a poll this early in the season... For me though...this has been going on for over 4 years...
I dunno if a different manager can help this team if players can't hit and pitchers can't pitch. I am personally not a big fan of Leyland and think that he should've been let go before, but don't know if there's a point to invest more money into a new manager at this point.
This roster is sucking, but it is not supposed to....they just need to be motivated and get a few lucky breaks to get back on track. They won tonight against one of the games supposed best pitchers in CC, so just have to hope that they can follow-up with a another one tomorrow.
It'll be interesting to see how the offense responds when Martinez gets back, Boesch goes to the #3 hole, and Maggs drops to the #6 slot. It was nice to see Sizemore get 3 hits...even though his error on a routine grounder cost a run.
