Been awhile having the Tigers as the most promising pro franchise in Detroit. I'd rank them just ahead of the Lions......
Since the season is upon us....I started reflecting on the starting pitching potential of our team. With an especially potential hitting lineup...the pitchers should benefit with some wins. Last season...Verlander 24, Sherzer 15, Porcello 14, Fister 9............ The last time the Tigers had 3 starters with at least 15 wins was 1987.... Morris - 18, Terrell - 17, Tanana - 15.........not bad. We had 4 - 15 game winners back in 1949......... The best I ever saw was back in 1971 when 4 Baltimore pitchers each won at least 20 games.... Palmer 20-9, McNally 21-5, Cuellar 20-9, and Dobson 20-8......... Now.........what about the 2012 Tigers starters. Let me make some projections.......... Verlander 20 Fister 21 (Damn you Drath) Porcello 15 Sherzer 13
That is impressive, although that was back in the day when many teams used a 4-man rotation. Those guys were starting nearly 40 games each. The Pirates ended up taking them out in the World Series. Good matchup.
Then there was the Indians in the 1950s. Lemon, Wynn, Garcia, and Mossi. Somebody can look up their record. Won 111 games and lost the Series.
The Indians went 111-43 in 1954. They lost to the NY Giants 4-0 in the WS. Lemon (23-7), Wynn (23-11), Garcia (19-8), and Mossi (rookie year, 6-1). Bob Feller went 13-3. Art Houtteman went 15-7.
Wynn was 23-11, Lemon was 23-7, Garcia was 19-8, Houtterman was 15-7, Feller was 13-3... Their top reliever was a guy named Hal Newhouser..........He was 7-2 I'd take that staff in fantasy...............
I just wanted to sprinkle in former Tiger Hal Newhauser........... Putting it with your hard work just made it look more impressive.
The Dodgers may sell for 2.15 Billion dollars. McCourt is allowed to rob the LA fans blind and now he given permission to screw over MLB. This guy ran that team into the ground, and now he'll finish up a winner. Even his wife who divorced him...will not get a penny of this deal as she signed off some time ago. Just the way he made people feel about the Dodgers is enough reason to take away all of his profit. Pay off his debt, legal fees, and then give the rest to charity...........Gluttonous behavior cannot be rewarded.
Baseball is gluttonous. They will revel in the huge sum paid for a team. Thus enabling the owners to think their team is rich.

I’m glad people are fired up.”
Looking for a big season from the Tigers here in 2012. Last year was a breakout year for the team as they miss my prediction by 1 game. This year I'm going with a 103-59 record and they will win the Central Division.
