For some reason, I found great joy in seeing this headline: Ozzie Guillen fired as Marlins manager after one season | Detroit Free Press | freep.com
Really looking forward to this. Should be a great series. Interesting matchup. Glad to see the Cardinals aren't in it. The only prediction I will make is that the Tigers relievers will be a major storyline in this one.
I'm the most humongestest Tiger fan in the world. Valverde has lost it, though. Leyland is stubbornly loyal to his players to a fault. He is going to throw Valverde into a closing situation and possibly cost the Tigers a World Series. I can see it coming. Irregardless, I will watch every pitch of every game and cheer on my Tigers.
i wouldn't try to rebuild Valverde's confidence during the WS. But I would let him try to get an out.
I think I heard someone say that the home team has won the last 7 game sevens.....so the Tigers need to wrap this up in 5.....get game one at least on the road and sweep the middle three home games...if necessary. I am not worried about the pitching, so need contributions from the unsung hero...say like Laird and Dirks to come through if the big guns are silenced for a few at bats. Lets hope that the Tigers have been playing against someone the past three days and don't come out rusty like everyone on MLB net is predicting...
Well, this start should loosen up the Tigers. Let it all hang out, boys. There are no second chances. Verlander's start reminded of his All-Star game start. He has trouble with Giants hitters apparently.
I only watched the first 5 innings, and I saw quite a few fielding errors. I think those guys are used to just standing around when Verlander is on the mound. He had a rough night, and the rest of the defense got caught sleeping. Time for the Tigers to wake up.
